Something i plan on doing in the future....adding another pulley just below the snout. I THINK there will be just enough room. The snout support will have to be modified a bit. Should allow better grip in general and especially on a smaller pulley.
This is on one of the original Twinscrew kits BTW, not DR's. His is

Tony, that pulley looks a little large. There must be a smaller roller that would fit the bill. Also, since you already have a natural wrap on the driver's side, I think you would get more benefit out of it if you could somehow place it on the passenger side, but it looks like the hose might get in the way.

Edit: One other thing to consider. Since the belt spins clockwise, and lift off the pulley will occur ont he passenger side. Even more reason to target the passenger side for your roller assembly.

Tony,

Andrew has a point (wow:-)... if you used a smaller roller on the pass side you wouldn't even need to modify the pulley bracket other than one hole.

Just a quick thought.....

yeah, thats what i wanted to do but if you look at the angle of the belt it runs down and meets the tensioner pulley. Putting an idler on the pax side would cause the belts to rub together. As far as i can tell this is the easiest way for me to do this. That idler is a paper cut out of the one i already have on the tesnioner. Of course once you move one thing on this set up, it interferes with another...and so on ...so on.
The SC pulley i have now is fine, but i know if i go smaller the belt will slip will slip

Yes David but when it is all done it just looks so RIGHT so EASY .... the cut and try cut and try cut and try . Like how many times can you bolt the same bracket to the same engine before EVERYTHING is correct ??

Tony,
Do you mean like this. I added another pulley below the snout on the opposite side. The tight side of the belt, of a high stress belt drive, should really be straight and not have any tensioner. Tensioners go on the non-drive side. That meant re-making the tensioner adjustment to put the tensioner pulley on the other side. I moved the tensioner adjust out front where it's easier to get to as well. The straight belt from the drive pulley to the SC came quite close to the coolant snout so I shortened that. Change one thing and the domino effect happens. I should actually get this car running later in the week so I'll know if it works.

Yup. Then the next step is that we'd just live in the shop since we wouldn't have houses anymore.

The quality of the image isnt good, but this is a screen shot of my last run of the day WOT tuning with the shark tuner. I added some text as a key along the bottom.
I was shooting for 12.4:1 as set in the Sharktuner. I had already tuned the idle and cruise then enabled it only for WOT for tuning. I started from a stop and shot through the gears, letting the ST autotune when at WOT. 3 and 4th gear were really nice as the RPMS built gradually and at a perfect rate to allow the ST to tune each cell as the RPM gradually rose....as you can see, really slow in 4th. The stretch of road that Darien and i use has a fairly good incline so it loads up the engine, allows the RPM to build slowly and somewhat keeps the speed in check.....needless to say i was WELL into tripple digits. I must have done 10 runs up this long inclined stretch of deserted road we have. Each time starting at the same point. I had two laptops in the car....an old Compaq with all the LM1 and LM3 datalogging...then my new laptop running the ST.
I had the AFR "blown up" full screen on my old laptop in the pax foot well and could see it easily out of the corner of my eye. Pretty slick how it all work really.

Gotta love Nevada roads

Ill add a whole bunch of Datalogs from the ST on the ST thread later.

Fuel pressure at 63psi...duty cycle under 55%!....the lines look like my TQ curve.....FLAT!
Wheres that smaller pulley

I like that Louie!
You have another? I have plenty of coolant snouts to cut and weld up.
