well, fwiw - when I ordered my L2 stuff from devek, it arrived in 2weeks jethot coated and ready to go - it's a quality product and IMO, worth the wait... course I waited 5 months for my crank from moldex, so everything else seems fast in comparison my 3" xpipe/cat section came about 3weeks later, looked great and fit perfectly....
when subcontractors screw up, it affects everyone downstream.... think I might be looking for another fab shop, rather than waiting for these guys to change the rules/make headaches again.... might even save some $$ and get better terms next time around too.... nice offer to split the cost diff

I understand the confusion and apoligize. Susan may be able to better explain what happened to those few invoices with the Sept 27 date. It was not intentional, and considering the nature of custom work in this market, the date was very unrealistic.

Are we going to get a straight answer? Sounds like OJ. We agreed on a price and schedule and both are wrong. Is it November, December or is it now January? How long can you string guys along? If DEVEK can not control their venders then maybe they need to pick a new one. Prices for these headers aren't cheap compared to MSDS. We must be desperate for parts.

Carl - I think next time, we will do something different. However, for now, we are sticking with them as tthey are a high quality supplier, one of the best in my opinion. Lets keep in mind a simple fact: the 928 is not a chevy and as such, the volumes are not high and may be shrinking, as folks have less inclination to pay for quality R&D and workmanship. This same supplier wonders why his 993/996 headers that he makes for another vendor sell for $3K and we have folks concerned at this price!. We are not making any net profit on this deal, and in fact, when all said and done, will most likely lose. The winners, if patient, will be those folks on this deal because they will get a damn good headers at an outstanding price!

On a side note - is there any more info on what the reults woul dbe with the bigger primary pipes?

I really didn't pay much attention to this thread...until I listened to some of the 'discussions' (read as "BITCHING") about it at the Frenzy.
So - as one NOT involved - I went back and re-read this as an impartial observer...
Marc - this was never promoted as a GROUP BUY - but rather as a SALE. In most states - providing one price to get people to buy, and then actually charging a higher price is against the law! And - in one case that I am aware of, where you actually charged the higher price to someone here on their credit card - WITHOUT VERIFICATION OF THE ORDER- could be considered fraud!
The killer for you - you let a bunch of R'listers get frustrated and pissed off - and then chose to stick your head in the sand, rather then TRUTHFULLY and directly answer the questions/concerns. My one and only dealing with you and your company (right after I got my shark) was NOT a pleasant or seamless transaction...but I gave you the benefit of the doubt - and even stated so on this list. Your actions (or INACTIONS) during this fiasco have sealed your fate with many on the list. Even after THIRTEEN pages of this thread - you still have not come clean. It is everyone else's fault but DEVEK's! Maybe run for President - you've got the 'blame game' down pat!
Now that you have expanded to handle many of the more 'popular' P-cars, it looks to me like you have forgotten from whence you came!

It all depends on the engine, and its torque characteristics over rpm range. In GENERAL, larger primaries means a bias towards higher end/rpm gains.
In GENERAL ......
On strokers, the difference between diameters MAY be the be approximately 10-20 ft lbs less on the low end and an additional 10 or so ft lbs on the high end.
Again, in GENERAL ....

5.0L to 6.5L or more and there wouldn't be more then that to gain with larger primaries?
6.5L (or maybe more) plus 968 valves and some headwork, plus some boost, maybe 15psi - it seems like maybe we would need stepped headers?

Brendon,
Engine for engine, 4.5 to 4.5, 7.0 to 7.0, sc to sc, whatever.
If you are building a SC engine, you are making a big mistake selling that crank .... a well built 5.4 100mm or 5.9 104mm using that crank is the way to go.....

Marc,
You have earned the respect of many 928 folks for selling great products. I have bought several small items from DEVEK without any issues. However this header sale has gone out of control. I manage many vendors at work. Most I ride hard to get the job done and some I let slide or even take a loss just to keep connections. The problem here is you have a bunch of guys that are dieing to get headers in their hands and you have blown them off for months. I want my headers yesterday and I paid for them months ago. I have called numberous times and I get the standard answer in a few weeks we will know. How complicated is this, you find a vendor and you agree prices and schedule. If I had customers this pissed I would try to be nice and cut them a deal and hope they return for more business. You may lose a little on this one but you would gain next time. I would be surprised if you are not making a good profit on this one and it sounds like the standard excuse that you are losing money on this deal. I hate going to the negative side but you give us no option but to bitch. Many of us are paid in full with the jet hot coating and I have nothing for the money I put out. What happened to bill when you ship...I guess you needed to use my money???

That means that the "original due date" was November 11, so we expect to be around three weeks late on delivery.
For those who are "in", DEVEK will absorb 50% of the cost increase for the 15 units units on special.
So right now, we have 4 sets available at the "special" pricing. The remainder of the batch will be sold at pricing yet to be determined.
