Sorry...late to the thread.

It was great to see some of the Shartoberfest guys at the socal TFT show today. I can't help but think the 928 would be a real handfull on the Malibu canyons fun run I took with the 993/997 guys prior to the show today. There are some relentless twisties....

I found out Friday that I HAVE to take 30 days of leave before October and this sounds like a good start! And I'm pretty damn sure Dad will have the S4 there.

I agree with Ron H, the western leg of I-70 is an excellent stretch of pavement with beautiful vistas. I-15 is a quick connect too.

Unless they have totally redone the freeway, I can vouch for the fun anyone will have, on I-15, south of St George, Utah. A swoopy banked road through a mountain pass. LOTS of roads I miss, now that I'm back east, and have a shark!

Have Tony Lapine sign my car with a magic marker? errr... no. (a) it wouldn't show and (b) he can sign my copy of "Project928" instead.

Dave,

It's just like having Caroll Shelby sign the dash on a KR 500! Just have him sign in a silver sharpie!!

Ron...sure we can all hook up there for the last leg to Denver.

I can't help but think the 928 would be a real handfull on the Malibu canyons fun run I took with the 993/997 guys prior to the show today. There are some relentless twisties....
Kevin, good to see you again as well!...BUT,I would buy a 928 or at least get a ride in one before you think it may be a handful in the so Cal canyons. The car is not only a blast to drive through the twisties, but absolutely eats them up! You would be hard pressed to outrun one in a 944 or 996/7! SERIOUSLY! Get behind one and try to keep up with it!!! A couple of years back we ran with some 993's, 944's, NSX's, Corvettes, Vipers... The NSX and 993 guys were blown away that they couldn't shake my STOCK 1982 through the canyons of Angeles Crest. Larry Murrillo and I were talking about that today actually cause he was there in his 82 doing the same thing. I think an S4 auto, manually shifted with a KD bypass, could have passed most of them going through the turns. The only cars that out ran us had 200+ more hp, not necessarily because they handled better. You really need to get a 928 if you are going to chobble with the 928 crowd.

So here we are with a couple more pages (again) of folks wanting to atttend this event with NO RESPONSE FROM THE ORGANIZERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

But where? On my cracked pod? On the dash that I will eventually replace? On the paint that I will ultimately sand off & repaint? I just can't think of a place for his autograph that won't be gone in a few years. I think I'd rather have him sign the book, maybe p.79 where there is a pic of him sharing a toast with Dorothea Porsche, Ferry Porsche, and Heinz Branitzki. Or maybe the one on P.66 where he appears with Wolfgang Möbius and a clay model that they are discussing in the foreground.

Hi Keith,

I wish I could help, but we have to be grateful to those who volunteer to organize such an event. As you well know, without such volunteers there wouldn't be any events.

I hope to hear from them soon on a final date.

Happy Holidays to all!

I know Stan, but the cries from the crowd need to be addressed by someone even if it is not definitive. We need to know that someone is actually out there working on this. I am sure one of the organizers can take a minute or two to give an update..or even just say, "We are working on it..."

Hi Keith,

My understanding from email I received last week, is that the organizers are working to coordinate with the Gmund event, and that event's date was not finalized yet. Sorry, I wish I could help more

If you don't like that idea, maybe we can get Wiedeking in a dunk tank.

Up date on the Rocky mountain Gathering in Denver ( Tentative)

I am waiting for the finalized Date, It will be in July of 2006 The final date is with the person who holds the G'Mund and he and his wife are off fishing in Pureto Rico and were suppose to be home this week but may have taken a side trip to Christmas Island, But the Month will be July , That gives more time for the price of Gas to drop.

I hope there are many who do plan on making the trip,

Will keep every one informed as this next week progress's

Richard
