Richard, the price of gas this last June was a shock to me. In fact, I barely made my fuel budget for the 6500 plus miles only by the benefit of lower prices in the central and midwest states which I had not anticipated. But the coastal prices were a killer. And next summer will be worse. Makes you think every time you want to put the hammer down.
George posted photos of the fun run somewhere else on the 928 Forum. It was HOT.

Yes, unless they plan to enter Colorado from a more southerly point. I prefer highway 50 and entering Utah on I -70 and continuing on to Colorado. I also vote for spending the night in Eureka, Nevada.......but only because it intrigued me when I passed through it last July and opted to continue on to Fallon because it was still early in the day. By the way, is Bigs coming along with us?
What say you Bigs??

If you are interested in making it a quick trip through Utah, From the South entry, I-70 is the fastest, From the West I-80 is the quick route and Dnver is only 525 Miles From SLC using I-80 thru Wyoming,( 7 hours at speed limit) But that is not the prettiest and most winding roads. Going thru Heber city after you pass Park city will let you take mountain roads for most of the trip also the prettiest and longest. For those of you thinking about fuel costs ( Now is the time to put the pennies aside) remember the costs are generally 15 to 20% lower than on the Calif. side. Going thru i-70 remember around Ritchfield and Salina you do not and I mean DONOT want to speed Utah Hi Way Patrol Traing area all year round.
Look forward to seeing all 928's from California.

Heed the warning about Salina. I know. I was stopped in that area but escaped. No, I won't go into details here of how.
I have not done hwy. 40 through Craig, but loved I-70 from Grand Junction and Rifle. Lots of fast mountainous open road all the way to Denver. Perfect for the 928 and grinning all the way. Maybe hwy 40 would be a new experience and fun. It would depend on how we came through Nevada, and I opt for Hwy 50; that would allow us to meet up with the Socal 928ers and then get on I-70. Anybody else??

Tony, that's the route I prefer as well. I-70 through Utah is all freeway and uncongested with reasonable scenery but lots of bears. Once past Grand Juction though it becomes fun.

First we need to know for sure that it'll happen on the date given. Recently there were rumors that the date might change.
This is not a trip in my backyard, so it takes a bit of planning. Please announce the final date as soon as possible, so we can block out time, save money, get the car ready and the store stocked for the event.
Then there is also the question about Sharks at the Lake, which might be around the same time. If it's the weekend before, some die hards like myself might be able to combine trips for a longer 928 vacation. Otherwise the two events should be at least three weeks apart; maybe four. Then we can all recover from one before planning for the next.
Usually I can handle about one 928 event per month - unless they are very close to my house. It worked out well this year, and hope it will be similar in 2006.
