Default Gambler's Run Open Road Race next weekend

Hello All,

The Gambler's Run ORR is next weekend in Elko, Nevada. Bill B., Tim D.,
Rich S. and I have entered. Bill is trying to get Anders to navigate, that
should be interesting....

I'll be entering in the 160 class this time. DEVEK is installing the fuel
cell and should be done tomorrow. I have a few more things to do,
but I hope to get it all done before Thursday morning when I plan to
leave for Elko.

I was there yesterday, and here's a picture of the work in progress:

Anyway, any other's planning in going?

George: when are you going to add an afterburner, vertical and horizontal stabilizers, and wings on the side? If you go above ground you might top 200mph easily... Just kidding!!!

Best of luck to you and the other participants! Is Rich going to try and target the crickets again? Or was that somewhere else...?

Either way: have fun, drive safely, and please come back in one piece!!!

160 AVERAGE speed is boogying. This will be George's first chance to really explore his supercharged 437 RWHP, as with the new equipment his tech speed (max allowed) is raised from 168 to 180. Meanwhile I'll be putting along at a relatively sedate 145 with a tech limit of 168. I hope Anders doesn't mind going slower than he usually does.

Maybe I'll jump to the 150 class soon, but I doubt I'll ever go beyond that. Oh, I am putting an intercooler on the SC soon which should raise the output and allow me to go with more boost safely.

George, Tim and Rich - see you in Elko this Friday.

We are going to leave early on Thursday so we can register early and finally make the Blender party. According to Mr Clean we will have 11 cars on Team Porsche. Lets kick the corvettes around a little again this year.

I only hope you don't encounter the grasshoppers (or whatever they were) that I encountered on my last trip through Nevada. It was like a rainstorm with them clogging the radiator and covering the entire front of the car and blinding forward vision. And the dead ones on the highway attracted hordes of birds that sat on the pavement gorging themselves until I came along and smashed into them, one even hitting my windshield and chipping it with its beak at "triple digit speeds". Awful mess.

I hope the Mormon Crickets do not infest the Elko area - the race directors have never mentioned it. They were a major problem in Battle Mountain last July, so that race was moved to late August, apparently after the Cricket season.

I probably still have cricket juice underneath my 86.5".

I'm sad, gonna' miss another race. Next year, back with a vengence!

Hey George, your seat braces will be in the mail today and sent next day so you will have them Wed. at the latest. I got a little carried away at the mill, they are pretty nice pieces. Let me know how they fit and work.
