Earliest 80? No sunroof! And it's mine!
Build number 0062. As I understand it, according to Vilhuer math, the first 60 are factory cars, so this is one of the first production 1980's?
Mechanically seems to be in good shape, well maintained up to some point, and then a few dimwits owned it. But I don't think they drove it much.
The interior is assembled from a few different cars; even the gauges, so I don't know what the mileage is. I hope that I can get an idea from DMV. Carfax is 1981-up. At least the interior is black, which should make it easier to replace.
Who's the U-boat commander?
New Kid on the Block.
Pretty darn straight. A few minor blems, and the clearcoat is bad.
No spoilers, or wiper.
No headlamp washers.
Looks good, all Porsche parts.
Yeah, it's an '80.
Did I mention, no sunroof? (Nice mirror.)

Nice Ken! What are your plans for this one? I'm guessing restore, since you mentioned interior stuff. I'm waiting for someone with a nice, early, non-sunroof headliner to decide they're going to track their car so I can snap up their headliner...

Jim,
The body as far as I've seen is pretty good. There are a couple small dents, but they look like a Painless Dent guy could fix 'em. The hatch lock has been gouged out, but the hatch metal is OK.
Underneath the car looks pretty straight too, and all the window trims are there!
"Honey bunny" actually likes the car, and said if it runs well, and get it painted, she'll drive it!
I might delete the passenger mirror for the full-on sano look, before painting.
...
Dave,
I hope I can fix the interior and keep it near stock. The headliner is the best panel, just one nick in the vinyl. The interior is a little odd to my eyes. The last PO swapped some interior from an '83, but like the first episode of 'Star Trek', the 'alien' didn't know what a 928 interior should look like, so for example, the pod switches are all in the wrong spots!
...
Errka,
The build date is 09/79.
The wheels are cool, they are 6" S-wheels with the extra fill hole, with a 53 offset so they look like they fill out the fenders. The gas door tire pressure sticker appears to support the notion that these are the original wheels, stating 205 fronts, and 225 rears.
The box under the visors is a nasty wrap around 'sport' mirror. You can't put the visors down with it there.

The dangers of jump starting:
Plus to minus, minus to plus = brainbox on the barby!
I have always wondered why the 80 box is separate?
As you can see the original ECU is literally toast. The PO put in a 83 ECU, and it supposedly runs. I still have yet to start the car myself! There was no battery where it was stored, and the price was so cheap, I just had to buy it regardless.

Do '80 have different rev limiter for example than other years? Something like that could explain different ignition box part numbers.

Is it my imagination or does it lookit look like the front pass wheel is sticking out about 2-3 inches?
Love the no-wiper!
Note to self: don't mix up neg and pos!

Ken, very nice, UNIQUE Porsche. Isn't that what it's all about? Restore her. And that mirror crap ... do the Jesse James thing and toss it as far as you can .... I have ob interior parts, maybe we can get her near stock again for you. She seems to have the small H4's too
