4:30 a.m.: Wake up.
5:30 a.m.: call Kevin.
6:30 a.m.: pick up Kevin.
6:45 a.m.: four miles of freeway, no cars, no ramps, 2% downgrade.
6:46 a.m.: 170 mph (calibrated speedo and a witness). Solid as a rock!
6:47 a.m.: Decided this car is almost as much fun as sex.
6:48 a.m.: Off to breakfast in Julian.

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've "only" had my GT up to an indicated 162. Needed a little more room before that darn curve. Plus the big wing does limit top end, but does one helluva good job on the high speed sweepers. 170 is one damn fine number!!!!!!!!!!

Knowing that it's not politically correct, ISN'T IT FUN?
I have GPS'd at 163mph at 6200' elevation still picking up (but slowly) on my way TO a race in Nevada, they wouldn't let me go faster than 140mph during that race.
Who calibrated your speedo? Mine is within 1 mph up to 110, then it gets a bit optimistic. It says 130mph at 125 mph GPS, 160mph at 151mph GPS. It was beyond 170mph at my 163mph GPS speed.
Always make sure you have acceptable tires and pressures when you play like this. I just dyno'd my car with snow tires on the back (live in Utah) and they started to look really funny at 160+mph dyno speeds and walk back and forth across the dyno despite being well strapped. Blizzak's rated to only 130mph......

The 928 speedo is WAY off, the faster you go, it just goes faster!
We once calibrated it via a dyno at 60 mph and 120, at 60 it was 61, at 210, it was almost 126! With GPS, at 180, it was burried.
At 210 it is ... huh, what speedo?

The speedo was calibrated by AAA. At 100 indicated, actual is 106. The tires are brand new ZR rated kumo 712. My buddy eyes were big as pies as we passed through 150 and he got very very quiet until we exited the freeway. What a rush! It was his first 150 plus trip.
I also have a Boxster that I have maxed out on the same stretch of freeway, but unlike the Boxster that startes to hunt and requires serious attention when over 140, the 928 was rock solid. I felt like I could have taken my hands off the wheel at 170 and it would have stayed straight and true. WOW.
I'm hooked.
Oh, and for all the uptight shark owners out there, this story was a complete fabrication, and product of my over active imagination.

Now why would you go and ruin a great story with a "PC" story adjustment......afterall we didn't buy these cars to look at them (they do look good though), we bought them to drive them & drive them hard!!!!
