Geir....
Anyway, Gaving is working flat-out on my car. The molding process is done. Gavin didn't want me to take pics of the molding. That's understandable. Hell, I haven't even seen my own car for 2 weeks! Gotta give the guy his bit of room for trade secrecy and whatnot eh? We been talking on the phone though. He started laminating panels today and re-assembly of the car should start happening towards the end of this week.
I can't wait dammit! Will have more progress pics up as soon as I can.
Cheers,
Pierre.

The pic below is about 3 weeks old. We've made lots of progress since then, all the body panels have been laminated, fitted to the car and sanded down for primer. I'm pleased to say all the panels came out of the moulds very smooth and straight, so we're lucky not to have a lot of work removing imperfections.
All the panels are bolt-on, except for the rear quarter panels and the flares on the doors that are laminated to the car, riveted on and bonded with special aircraft stuff they actually use on the South Afarican Rooivalk attack chopper, so hopefully this will hold up strong. The rivets have since been sanded down and smoothed out to blend in.

And here's something you DON'T want on your to-do list, the interior. The 928 has some sort of super tough bitumen / tar-like stuff plastered all over the inside for sound proofing, about 1mm thick and very heavy, so it must come out, but oh man, what a bitch to remove. Luckily we found something that works easier now - one of those wire brush attachments that fits on a small angle grinder... Plus, another contact I have just told me to chuck some dry ice in there, wait 10 minutes and then the tar will remove easily using a putty knife. This guy removed 62kg of tar sound proofing from a Fiat Uno Turbo, wow! I'm gonna try that next week.
The dash is carbon fibre. Still to come is a carbon fibre centre console and flat door panels.
As you probably know, there is over 15km of wiring and over 100 fuses in the stock 928 electrical system!!! All of that's been replaced by just the bare essentials. Plenty graft still waiting, ugh!

We've stripped the rear "seatlets" down and painted them black with leather-edged paint. They weigh nothing, so I'm thinking of attaching them with vercro after the roll cage and everyting else is in, just for the "look" you know...

That's it for now. We're gonna paint the outside next week, black with a touch of blue pearl in. I'll have some more progress pics up next week.
Cheers,
Pierre.

Pierre,
I now a bit late for you, but it may help others - use a heat gun for the tar paper - it comes right off with very little scraping

Is the car going to get a fuel cel?
Or a roll cage?
This is going to be a racecar, right?
I'd say you should build a fiberglass cover for the rear seat area,
so it can be one flat surface, all the way from the back to the front...
Having those little seats in there looks strange.
What is your plan for the interior?
All carbon fiber? Black? Aluminum? Color?

Well..
So much for the 23 of febuary...things take time.
I figured about a month of work when beginning the add on to my house just about a year ago.
I'm not going to ask about Gavin and his homepages..1'st of Ocktober is when the total rebuild of my 928 is supposed to start. I'm sure Gavin will have something to offer by that time.
Please forgive any misspellings...I'm well into a bottle of red.
