COOLING SYSTEM -
Man, there are so many threads about cooling systems and cooling fan setups on the list. I've read so many things and done so much research, my head is spinning. So, I'm gonna do what I always do when I dunno what to do - lol - follow my own instincts, whether they're right or wrong.
I've had overheating poblems before, so I figured I better pre-empt a few things as I go along. First, I thought it would be a cool idea (pun intended) to seperate the cooling system from the intake system, so I made this air diverter and radiator shroud to split the air flow -
I used thin guage aluminium angle sections and thin, flat sheets of carbon fibre to make these. They weigh next to nothing, much lighter than the stock setup. (ignore the cable ties, this is just a quick trial fit)

The vents in the hood line up with the bellmouth intakes, and the huge intake in the centre lower part of the front bumper cover has a shroud that seals up against the radiator. Now I have seperated the air flow through the radiator from the airflow to the intake system..., I hope

Awesome, Pierre. Your car is so mean. I've been so busy lately, I haven't been able to update my thread. I'll update it sometime soon. My car HAS to be finished in 3 weeks (!). So be on the lookout...

Mark, I bought the splitter adjusters from a local *rice* shop a while ago. They're springloaded to adsorb minor impacts, don't think they'll be any good on a wing. Sorry i can't help.

Radiator fans -
This is the setup I'm going for - A puller fan 1018 CFM (m^3/h), 1730cfm in the states, cause you measure cfm differently I'm told. This will be the *primary* fan. As a back-up I also installed the same unit as a pusher fan with the blades turned around to push - sandwich setup
I've read that a pusher fan is not as effective as a puller fan, so the puller fan will be *Fan1* and the pusher will be *Fan2*. Both will be operated manually from the dashboard by means of toggle switches so I can regulate the temperature from the cockpit. Track time will tell if this setup works or not....

LOL, not for long i bet.
I still want your hoodscoops. If i wasn't a coward with body work i'd try to emulate them myself.
On the fans i also installed a pusher and a puller, but i determined that just a single high powered pusher was all i needed even in high humidity high temp city driving. I also have a big heavy duty radiator too.

Thanks Snipe, i wish I could send you copies of the hood scoops, but they're integrated in the lightweight hood that my bodywork guy Gavin made for me. They're in a low-pressure area (naca ducts would work better), but I'm not really concerned as I'm gonna supercharge in time to come.

Have you built the roll cage yet? I'm pretty much done with mine. My list to finish in 3 weeks: paint interior and exterior, finish CF dash, put it all back together, fabricate suspension mounts, build custom air dam/splitter, install wing/wing mounts, and a few other misc. doo-dads. The paint/body will take up the most time. Oh yeah, and I have to get a new windshield. It's crunch time!

Some things you might want to consider Pierre: insulation on top of the radiator and a barrier around the intake bell mouths like the stock fan shroud has. Those would keep intake air from going over the radiator making the radiator less efficient, and would keep hot radiator air from getting into your intake.

No, I haven't done the roll cage yet. My exhaust guy will do that. Something I've been thinking about - I want the front posts of the cage welded to the chassis rails for extra stiffness. There is what seems to be a thin plate covering the chassis rails, what do you do with that? Just cut it out so you can weld the cage straight on the rails? Doh question I suppose?
I hope you finish your car on time. Do you have a race coming up?
