Here is what I can find in my documentation on Porsche Exclusive:

X01 - not found
X16 - Exclusive package, consisting of XJ8, XY4, XY5, XY6, XY7, XY8
X22 - Automatic shifter, dark rootwood, including leather boot
X23 - Automatic shifter, light rootwood, including leather boot
X38 - Wider front fenders, including 8 x 17" wheels on front axle
X55 - Painted instrument cluster in leather color
XB2 - not found
XE4 - not found
XE5 - not found
XH7 - not found
XT1 - Addition of phone console in passenger leg room
XT5 - Leather covering of phone hand set and receptor
XT7 - not found
XT8 - not found
XX5 - CD/Cassette holder in left door panel
XX9 - Telephone console
XY2 - Leather covered bezel without memory switch (in the door panel)
XZ8 - Leather covered "rosette" (receptors) for the luggage cover
XZ9 - Leather covered safety belt tongue frame (at the back seats)

The challenge is that these codes were not all available at the same time, and some might have changed along the way, as features of the car changed or were added. What we'd really need is a matrix of these codes by model year...

Up a little early Nicole or just going nite-nite..........it was 4AM CA time when you posted the above comment . I think we could use a corresponding factory/dealer price list for the options also............. BTW, does anybody have a price list for all of the options for 1991?

I have listed all the option codes used for the 928 from the production base made by Hilton and Vilhuer. So this is the most complete list you could get I think.

I have tried to distinguish the codes used many years, if the meaning differs.
I have a list of 312 codes and with everybody's help only have 13 codes wihout meaning yet.

Here they are:
115: used from 1981 to 1983
282: used from 1981 to 1982
287: used from 1981 to 1982
413: used in 1981 only
493: used from 1981 to 1985
495: used from 1981 to 1986
639 for the '91 model year (13 cars, all GT's)
651: : used from 1992 to 1993, two "German" GTS only
655: : One 1993 GTS only
728: Used in 1994 for 30 "German" GTS's.
729: Used in 1994 for 16 "German" GTS's.
XB2: One "German" '89 GT only.
XT7: One '89 S4 manual delivered in Switzerland.

I have already a matrix by model year but would like to complete it with the missing codes before providing it for checking first and then general use for every 928 enthusiast.
It's an Excel file for the moment.

There come up with one option code decoder page.

413 18" Turbo look wheels
651 Electric windows

Neither makes any sense so they must mean something else. Usually meaning remains same within MY on all models. If explanation can be found for other Porsche model for same MY it should apply also to 928.

I will forward the remaining codes and let you know what I find out. It may take a few weeks before I get an answer, though.

Time does not matter, as long as we get the solutions.

I post this with some hesitancy because I don't want to upstage Samuel's work on this, but I had some captive time with a laptop this week and reverse-engineered all the PET options data from 1980-1995. Along with this data and a review of all the RL threads related to obscure option codes, I come up with a much bigger list of unknowns.

I started with the goal of coming up with the comprehensive list of all option codes actually used on 928's, including the X, Z, and 5-digit codes, and it morphed into a sizeable list of unknowns, many more than the 13 Samuel mentions a few posts back.

If nothing else my review of the data can serve to verify what others have found, ( or to expose what I missed! )

First list is the # of occurrences of each option code in PET, 1980-95:

Just FWIW...I have M220 on my 83 S - your notes only list it as 87-89. I also have a "99 - Leather interior to sample" on the invoice. My wheels are listed as 395, but they came painted from the factory I believe - see pic on P110 of Brian Long's 928 book, which Mr Long agrees could be mine - everything visible matches.
This is ROW DS840812.

I have these - not sure how correct:

235 - Bridgestone N2 / Pirelli N2
239 - change of tyre manufacturer during production.
534 - Alarm system (note - also have 533 as alarm system)
X31 Light Rootwood Parking Brake Lever (standard with Y59)
X32 Dark Rootwood Parking Brake Lever (standard with Y60)
XB4 Series entry panel with fade (Serieneinstiegsverkl. Mit Blenden)
XC1 Rear fender extension
XJ5 Leather Covered Ignition Key
XX8 Switch frame in leather
XZ4 Leather Glove Box Rosette

I'm guessing the entry panel one is for the "928" kick trim in the door frame?

The following options are/were on my car (among other options, which are already listed/known):

M239 different factory tires than default (although I do not know which tires...)
M334 Radio Bremen RCM 42 1993
09981 Manufactured from Exclusive Program
09991 Manufactured from Exclusive Program

Note that I also have option X38, and although my front wheel rims are indeed 8" instead of the default 7.5": the fenders are exactly the same as the default one (myself and Erkka measured that in detail a few years ago). I think Porsche never made wider/steel fenders...

Rob, do you know a way to collect the color codes (paint and inside) for each car produced?

The 115 certainly indicates a specific radio equipment with the ARI system:
http://www.turbosition.com/de/service/porsche-radio
Can anyone confirm this?

Samuel-

Short answer is, theoretically.

A couple of years ago when I bought my GTS I managed to get a copy of the build sheet for it (see my webfiles link below). The build sheet contains the interior and exterior color codes.

https://webfiles.uci.edu/redwards/pu...4%205-1-09.pdf

At the bottom of the build sheet is a URL, which leads one to the Porsche Partner network (PPN).

I asked Mark Anderson about PPN a while back, it's a subscription service that costs $250-500 per month, and lets you pull build sheets, among other things.

https://ppnhome.porsche.com/ppnhome/

Coupled with Rixter's Color Code books (https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...od-rixter.html), It would be fun to get a couple of 928 VIN geeks to go in together for a 1 month subscription and then just tag-team the database and download every 928 build sheet. Not sure whether Porsche would appreciate that, it might cut into their silly little Certificate of Authenticity business...... (How many 928 COA requests do they get per year now? 3? )

Anyway, I know that there's an effort via OCIC to update the 928Registry pages, hopefully together we can figure out how to catalog all the build info for all 928s into one comprehensive database. I might even join OCIC in order to help! (Never been much of a joiner, I figure any club that would have me isn't worth being in..... )

Quick Reply: Option Codes - which ones were we not able to resolve?
