Bad Rixter:
First and foremost, I must apologize, I have been remiss is explaining my absence from Rennlist and the 928 community at large.
As many of you know, I suffer very bad migraines. 14 months ago my health in general took a serious turn for the worse, my body stopped responding to treatments and my weight plummeted due to inability to take in solid foods. My family and drs finally convinced to stop denying I was in bad shape and take steps to correct it.
It's taken me damn near a year to come to personal terms with the situation. They say you never fully appreciate things until they're taken away, and they're dead on. The long term effects of the migraines, drugs/treatments have rendered me essentially homebound 99% of my time.
I've had enough personal pity parties to last a lifetime, and I don't need more.
After more than a decade I still believe that we will figure this out and I'll return to "normal", whatever that is. This is who I am........ FOR NOW.
Good Rixter:
I got a msg from Jarrod requesting any info to help on the rebuild of the 928Registry. Needless to say, Jarrod will be busy for a LONG TIME as my db is rather extensive.
After talking to Jarrod last nite I was thinking if I had anything else to add to the registry.. if anyone working on the project is willing to take on something else, I think I could be convinced to finally turn over my factory color code and material sample books to OCIC possession.. once scanned maybe they could be auctioned off with the funds going to the OCIC??
Peace,
and please.. don't worry about me, I'm one tough SOB and long term things will work out, they always do

Hey Rixter, no apologies necessary to this group, hope you find some relief sooner rather than later!
If anyone needs a willing pair of hands to do data entry/collation/QC on 928 -related production #'s, colors, options, etc, count me in!

Man, I was just thinking about you the other day (my mind wanders a lot) and how I gave you misdirections after dinner at SITM '08... It's really good to hear you are alive and whatever well means (most of us have been there one way or another). Stick to getting better whatever that involves, and all the best!

Rixter - I'm so sorry, I had know idea! I just knew you weren't very active anymore. With your vast knowledge of 928 production history, you were the first person I thought of to reach out to for help on the Registry project. I feel bad about my intrusion, and certainly wish you well on your path to better health!
Thanks again for your assistance and your generous offer here today. I'll make sure the 928OC leaders see this thread and respond. Copies of that would be a great addition to the archives.
Take care!

Thank you Rixter!
We REALLY appreciate the information that you shared with us. We are working hard to get all of that data entered into the new Registry. We welcome anyone who wants to join in on the team, let us know on the OC forum. I also hope we can find a way to add your collection of 928, Rixter!

Jim,
My dads bday is next week and he's actually going to be home instead of jaunting off somewhere. I'm hoping the weather is ok and I feel well enough to pop up and surprise him. I'll holler and come by if I make it up.

Amazingly, I get random emails from folks asking for vin look ups, so probably best that I at least provide copies of all my stuff ... just on the outside chance.
Frenzy is coming up soon, I could drop the books with one of the local guys if they're going. They could give them directly to whoever the OCIC designates at Frenzy.

Rixter- Thanks for the update. I think I remember a few cryptic references to things going south for you health-wise.
Your offer is extremely generous and it should be noted in the OCIC archives once that stuff is scanned and made available that it came from you.
Keep your head on straight and keep moving forward man.

Rixter,
Great to hear from you, bummer about the health issues. Very correct in that we don't truly appreciate things until they are no longer possible. GOOD HEALTH is the one we REALLY take for granted until that changes. Keep up the great attitude as that always seems to help, and frequently is more than half the battle.
