When we ran the VIN through the PET we got the following option codes.
I282
I423
I425
I441
I571
M261
M418
M533
M563
Why the differences?
I will not have access to the car till April 2014.

I'm working on putting together a complete set of option codes and have a few of these now.

493 Narrow body style
495 Carrera S
651 Electric windows
655 Electric folding roof control (944)

Also, 563 has two meanings.. "Passenger side airbag" being the other one.

(lots of codes were recycled by Porsche for various models, especially 996-onwards - I'm trying to get applicable model years for each code too).

Still missing 728,729,xt7,xb2

493 Narrow body style = S without spoilers? 52 made between '80-85 but some of them are 4.5L.
495 Carrera S = meaning what in 928? 88 made in '80-86, all ROW and most 4.7L but 9 are '80 MY 4.5L.
651 Electric windows. Only 2 ROW GTS. Why?
655 Electric folding roof control (944). Only 1 ROW GTS. Why?

Good questions - the options lists I've found aren't 928-specific, and those are the only meanings I've found for those codes out of a lot of lists (well, except for the really new models, like 991 which has a different meaning for 651 - sun/moon roof)

In post 66 there is a reference to Option Group J25. Option Group J25 includes:

- Right side mirror
- Digital radio amp
- Electric seat right

MSRP on J25 was $2,365

Reviving this thread with some more mysterious codes...

on a Swedish sold ‘89 GT build sticker : 04252 & 07401. Any ideas?

it does have the rare full black leather with red piping & red carpets to match the guards red exterior. Even the spare wheel is red!

I have an option code 221 on my -87 S4, does anyone know what it stands for.
According to lists I've seen this option came in -89.

I believe that is the option code for 20/100% locking diff. Does it make noise in reverse?

I am assuming your VIN ends in 5. The PET database shows fewer option codes than your sticker, namely:

I299 - Prepared for unleaded fuel, automatic transmission
I328- Blaupunkt Bremen SQR46 (4 x 8 W) (ARI- Germany)
M474- 1986.5-up Boge GZ twin-pipe gas shock absorbers, Fire Red (RAL 3000 paint)
I513- Lumbar support - right seat
M533- Alarm system
I537- Left seat with positrol and lumbar
I538- Right seat with positrol and lumbar
I570- High output air conditioner
I586- Lumbar support - left seat

So 208 is Trailer coupling, and 221 as Cobalt says is Porsche-locking differential, Curious that it's not in the database. Does your car have a tow hitch?

221 is PSD but it should be only '90 MY and later option, not in '89 and definitely not in any '87. Few very early '89 MY cars had it but it seems system was not ready for production until next year and therefore normal customer cars got old school M220 LSD.

Porsche was already working on the PSD for the 928 in January 1988. It was then meant to be introduced with the 1989 MY.
In February 1988, this was changed to 1990 MY.

So, some prototypes were of course made before. @DMC12, does your car actually have a PSD?

Do you confirm that your car was delivered in Weissach?

No both the motor and gearbox has been changed of som previous owner.
And I've looked for signs of PSD being installed but I don't think it has been installed .
The tow hitch has been on the car but that to has been deleted of some previous owner .

Into the warranty booklet, is there any indication of the Porsche center of delivery?
Also, do you know the first registration number?
