My car does have a factory installed hitch (w/ 928 part #) but no cutouts on the rear bumper for the receiver. I always assumed that either the 718 or the 10021 was for that.

What exactly is the "R-program"? I'm not familiar with that one.

So this works out, would be curious to know the build date in relation to the change in program.

Low Miler,

The info I have says 639 stands for "928 GT" No idea what 046 stands for.

Why don't you guys continue to post unresolved numbers here. In May, when my friend is finished building his house and might have a little more time, I will ask him for those numbers we did not clarify in the first round.

Nicole, Plz check code J25 on a 1981. It was delivered with light weight wheels, front and rear spoilers, and sport steering wheel and seats; all indicators of the factory "competition package".The local Porsche dealer ran the VIN and confirms code J25, but can't cross reference to clear text. Thanks, RB Jones

Keith,

928 940
More specific code for body, mine has also 940 and quess it means body for manual gearbox with sunroof

M2849-85P G2857- 30
Engine and gearbox numbers
M2849-85P = M28/49 engine meaning manual GTS, P = 1993 model year
G2857-30 = G28/57 gearbox meaning manual GTS, not sure what 30 means (my sticker only has G2857-)

L908 QK
Paint and interior codes
L908 = paint code Grand Prix White 1978-1995
QK = interior code, no one know what these are exactly but it says what kind of color theme your cars interior has

The 09991 code means that the car was sent to the exclusive dept for additional extras. Do you have a wood shifter or some extra leather, custom work of any type? If so those numbers stand for what the exclusve dept installed. They usually end in 91.

Hope it helps.

Keith,

May I ask how the sport shocks differ from the stock units?

I have been trying to figure out what the J26 option package is for my 1981 928. If you can have your friend look this one up, I would be very appreciative. Thanks!

EDIT: FWIW - the J26 option group cost $3,685. So I don't think it is an extra light bulb. lol.
