You'd better act quickly on this one!
It was just listed on Ebay (item #2487517567) with an opening bid of $7000.
But, what most will not know, is that it was also just listed today on Autotrader.com for $9500 at the very bottom of the page with a tiny, tiny little, no picture ad.
Basically, if you call him before it reaches $9500 on Ebay and say you saw the ad in Autotrader, you could buy a 38,000 mile red/tan automatic 928 for $9500!
I would call him quickly! He's owned it since 1991 since it had 16,000 miles. This is not the kind of car you go and PPI or check into before buying. You just buy it! That's how I did it, and that's how you get the good deals.
If I were still in the buying/selling market, I would have already sent a Western Union deposit to this guy, sight unseen! But as I stated, I'm no longer in the business.
This is a great deal people! Someone jump on it!
If not, we'll see what it ends up going for in the long run, especially when he adds pictures!

No pictures... you can only hope and believe that it is in as good as a condition as the mileage indicates.

No pictures. No e-bay history. I'm just a bit concerned, otherwise I'd jump.... but it's clear across the country!

The dealer flogged it for 4 years and 16,000 miles? That explains the $40K... it was a demo(lition). Dealer miles are harsh... worse than "Drive it like ya stole it". More like "Drive it like you hope it will break so you can go back to selling 911s". Don't ask me how I know...

I wouldn't be so quick to beat it up! Your looking at the worse scenerios and they could be misleading.
Hey guys, I was just letting you in on something I found in the early stages. There appears to be a 1000 mile discrepency on the odometer that I'm sure was just a mis-reading, but who knows?
Anyway, if its no good, its no good. If it's all good, it was an awfully good deal!
I'm just keeping everyone informed of cars that I would have probably bought or pursued if I was still buying and selling.
For example, that '95 red/black GTS automatic with 25K on Ebay right now is also an odometer discrepency, but was just a simple misreading at the BMV. It happens you know.
Oh, and the recall for the heat sheild was an actual Porsche open recall campaign.
I wouldn't be so quick to jump to the worst conclusions, but rather search out the facts........quickly.

Hopefully others who really know what goes on behind the counter at car dealerships will back me up on this... but "demo" cars get the **** flogged out of them, whether they be Porsche, Ford, Nissan, whatever. I stand by what I said; The 16,000 miles put on it by the dealer are likely HARD miles. Flooring it while cold, roasting tires on uneven ground, not giving a damn about speed bumps, never putting more than 2-3 gallons in the tank, sitting in the sun endlessly... the list goes on. Caveat Emptor is all I'm saying.

Maybe it is a loser, I don't know for sure. I've only gotten bitten once during all my years of selling these cars, but I think that one time made up for a good 10 or more!
I just saw it and wanted to make anyone aware of it at the lower price. Who knows, it may be the biggest POS ever, but only the actual buyer will find that out for sure.
It may be worth checking out (PPI or something), but that's up to you. $9500 is awfully cheap for a car with 38K, even if the odometer is off by 1000 miles (that could probably be corrected).
I'm leaving this up to anyone that's interested. Keep us informed of any actual evidence that becomes fact. I'd be interested in knowing the real story!
