I added one... it was shown in PET for 1978(not authoritative, I know) and I went ahead and bought it, but I had a hard time figuring out how to get the cover to hold itself in place. Maybe it was added later after the issues with water on the connector became apparent?

Anyway I was just pickin' on ya. Gorgeous car.

I'm pretty sure they still can (and do) in France.

Seriously nice time-capsule-mobile Chuck. Looks like you got Sherman to set the coordinates for the "Wayback Machine" just right.

Congrats!

I'll take more pics after I get it cleaned up a little bit this evening. I honestly haven't been this excited about a 928 since I bought the 89 S4 Brendan now has. I hope you guys don't mind if I gush a little bit and post more pics later. I'm really excited by the opportunity to own a piece of history and yes, I would buy the Pearlglanz GTS too! Wouldn't that be a sight!

JE,

The car came from NH, here is the first time any of us saw this car for sale:

John K,

You got it man! You are pretty quick though, I've seen you drive.

That might not be a bad idea. There's a guy here in SA that has one of his Porsches on display at the Porsche museum and gets paid good money for it, from what I hear.

Fantastic car btw. Congrats!

Cheers,
Pierre.

I love it............ My aunt had the exact same color (Olive Green if I'm not mistaken) when I was a teenager (back in 1982). She use to let me drive it. That's what got me hooked on these cars. Seeing that car really brings back memories............... we use to call it the "Frog". Turn on the head lights and it names itself!

Here is the paint sticker on the left side door jam, I think its Lime Green Metallic:

Chuck, I posted a bunch of pix of that car to a thread that cropped up earlier this year. Let me know if you can't find the thread or want direct links to where I have the pix hosted... I can dig them up when I get home.

Dave,

Here is the previous post. I copied a lot of the pics after you posted them which really went a long way in helping us decide to buy this car. That and all the pics of the underside and engine they sent me.Thanks.

Scott,

I PROMISE I'll find the name and phone of the family that owned that car. After I go wash the 78.....

Here are more pics and info on the Pearlglanz GTS from my web site:

They'd probably ask, when you are going to start driving it...

Chuck: I've eyed this car on ebay and wished my bank accound would have allowed me to love it. I'm more than happy it found a good loving home now, and hope to see it at an event in the futue. Hell, this car alone would almost jusfy a trip to the Carolinlas...

Now you have a really awesome collection! Congratulations!!!

The English name - according to the 78 color chart - is "light green metallic". The interior is "cork".

Lime green would be "Limonengrün"

Hey Chuck,
A true museum piece...love the color and the op art interior! WOW, I've never seen a cleaner vintage 928. I've bought demo cars with more miles on the odo! I would love to see it in person sometime though I'm guessing that this one won't see much road use.

I was 12 in 1978 when I first became infatuated with the 928. The car I saw was dark brown with op art interior. This really takes me back....glad this car is in YOUR garage Chuck!

Best,
Tim
