Ahh yes, 1978 when LSD had nothing to do with differentials.

A bit much don't you think?

How can someone to make an engine compartment that dirty (and lose the shield) in 1200 miles?

A few years ago NADA retail for a 78 928 in that condition was about $14K, but that was for a 5 speed. The color will also lower the value.

Can anyone read the shell sticker????

Why would someone buy this car, hardly ever drive it and then get it fixed at a Shell station? 1200 miles you would think they would spend the money and bring it back to the dealer.

The Shell sticker could've been put on after doing an oil change with Shell oil used. It probably says the mileage on that sticker as well and when the next change is due.

I have doubts that car is as virginal as they claim. Where is the shield on the intake?

Interesting that it has the 15" wheels. I had been under the impression these were not available before 1980.

The Shell sticker could be the one from the factory that indicates what was first filled into the engine. They later switched from Shell TMO to Mobil 1.

Yes, the engine compartment is a little dirty. Weird they did not clean this up before trying to maximize the selling price.

Nevertheless, if I had lots of money laying around, I'd try to buy it for as close to the starting bid as possible (Buy It Now seems high even to me).

Where else can you find a such early 928 in such great condition? This is a collectors item, not one to use as a daily driver. If you just want to "use it", you can get one for a quarter of the price. But try to restore that one to the same condition as this one, and you'll be looking at a great deal more money.

It all depends on what you intend to do with it.

PS: Note the early intake tubes without the sound dampening venturi shape!

No, Auto trans was available pretty shortly after production started in 1977.

Staring at that 'Optic' checkered interior, I doubt they needed 'LSD', even in that era of Austin Powers.
The Shell sticker indicates the Factory fill as Nicole mentiones - the same sticker is still attached to my '80.

Well, the interior is pretty clean, but the rest of the car, and the story, seem a little fishy... Some nice parts, but not worth the price. Shows that the 928 is not yet a collector's car....
