Ok, might be a dumb question but here goes:

What's the purpose of the brown paper or cardboard under the car?

Hey Tony,

Unfortunately, neither I nor the car will be at SITM next year unless DR changes the date to sometime in either May or July.

Tina and I are getting married on June 4th and we cannot change from this day! June 4th 1992 was our first official date and we have been together ever since. About 4 years ago while out to dinner with my boss and his wife we were asked as we have been asked a kajillion times, "when are you guys getting married?" Tina's response was "the next time June 4th falls on a Saturday, we'll get married, I'm not starting the clock over!" Her real motive I think was to make it so I only have to remember one anniversary!

That would be June 4th, 2005!

Not sure when I'll be able to bring it to the next 928 event.

Hacker,

Not a dumb question at all. Its to keep paint, oil, gas and grease from staining my new garage floor since I plan on doing something with it when I'm done with this project. Plus, it's not quite as damp feeling while laying on it while working on the car. Has worked very well!

Chuck - that would have been my guess, any special type of paper? I'm setting up a garage this winter some pulling the motor. I like the idea of the paper, and maybe put plastic under it to control fluids.

Just used brown paper from Home Depot. Might be kinda hard to secure the plastic and paper so its not like an ice rink. You might try cardboard and if you get it too saturated cut out the section and tape in another piece of cardboard.

I had to replace the paper under the rear section when we took out the gas tank as quite a bit of fuel dripped on the paper. Didn't stain the floor and was super easy to clean up.

Chuck I went and retrieved the old lady yesterday.

It's a '79
Full leather indeed
Engine will need removal and restoration
Fuel pump runs ... when you smack it
Fuse panel has been raped by stereo scientists and engineers
Alpine system and cd changer lovingly botched into the underdash
No emergency kit
Spare, gloves, plastic, pump, bulbs, rear hatch cover all present and perfect
quarters contain expensive altec lansings (Son of a B*tch)
Doors are vinyl but will be leather since I have rolled up in my mausoleum ... perfect perforated door leather
Carpets nice
Headliner OK but needs re-shaping (no sunroof)
seats very nice leather
dash almost perfect leather with a huge up-swirled buckle at a vent (and I mean big) ,.... think I can fix this
auto
beautiful phone dials
rear console very nice with ashtray unused and lighter.
So ... this one will be a projekt also ... but very pretty Chuck, let me know if you need pics of anything.

Do you still have your fantastic car, Chuck?

I just bought the baby brother in Oslo, 1108. Not quite as virgin like, and not pascha but it came with all the original accessories and 16" wheels because it is a manual.

Cant be many more Lindgrun cars out there.

Please update.

Toad says hello to Kermit.

Yeah, the 16" were standard for the 5 speed. Very nice and smooth ride indead plus they are actually different in design from the 15". They have curvey holes where the 15" are more flat faced.

Currently toad is getting the WUR cleaned, CVs rebuild plud some other small stuff done. And of course he has been polished and waxed

Wonder what happened to Kermit?

Toad getting his 36th years checkup.

This was in 2012 I talked to Kermit's owner in Germany on the phone. He wanted to sell it and offered it to the Porsche museum too. If he succeeded? I have no idea. It is just sad if you have o very active 928 community in Munich and nobody ever sees the car.
It has been bought to make profit and not to enjoy it.
