Yes, Mark Anderson made a great jump off the line and took the hard charger award, and he stayed right in the action while others spun off or broke down as the race progressed. Another hour and he probably would have been on the podium. Too bad about DE Jr. We arrived after the incident, but I did see a replay of the inferno. Also, too bad Mark Kibort just missed qualifying. Beth counted 11 928s there with owners supporting Mark & Mark. We made up a noticeable share of the Porche corral, garnering a lot of positive comments. It was a beautiful day at the track.

I second what Bill already said: It was a beautiful day at the track - and it was great to see many of our known friends, and a few new 928 owners we had not met before. Apparently, Dennis K was there as well, and I did not see him. Shmurzik evaporated as usual, but so did Dave and some other guys...
Mark Anderson worked VERY hard for his 10th place, beating many cars that had been prepped and supported by teams larger than the whole 928 International company. Seeing this car as well as its driver perform so flawlessly is very impressive!
Oh, and the "refinished" race car looks awesome, too!!!

Shmurzik had already done the Houdini when Brian & I left. Everyone seemed to have evaporated from Mark's trailer, so Brian and I went off to watch some racing. We should have brought ear plugs... Anyway we both had things to attend to this afternoon. We left somewhere around noon, and Beth & Rich caught up with us just as we were pulling out, so we said farewell.
It was a really good time, despite losing track of the group a few times. While you folks were heading up toward Mark's trailer, I stopped to see him get his quick moment at the mike and get his not-quite-pocket-sized check. When I turned around again you were all gone...![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
My digital camera is clearly not up to this... too short of a focal length. If I want to get pix of race action in the future it seems I will have to drag out my 35mm gear with longer, faster lenses. Out of all the bytes I burned, I managed to get only one good pic of Mark, fortunately sharp enough to be acceptable after cropping to make up for the short focal length. There's a few others, but he's tiny in the frame and blurry when blown up. Here he is toward the end of the race, picking his way through the debris from the many incidents in turn 2:

Ann and I arrived just after the DE Jr incident, all we saw was the smoke from the fire as we were approaching Sears Point. We parked way out with the rednecks, as we drove the truck instead of the 928. Found our way to turn 2, but didn't see anyone. After the race started I spotted Dennis Kao, who watched the race with us. Great spot, as all the off track incidents happened right in front of us! We didn't hang around too long, I promised Ann a wine tasting trip into Napa if she went to the race with me. We spent the afternoon at Francis Ford Coppola's winery estate, enjoying the wine selection before heading back to Sacramento. Tivo did it's job, so we watched the race again when we got home. Congratualtions to Mark Anderson...he ran a great race!!! Had a great day despite missing everyone....see you at Devek Day.

Sorry I missed you guys on Sunday. I made a late start and had to leave early but Rich managed to find me at the the start of the Speed GT race.
Mark A did a great job, running a smooth, fast race while everyone was flying off track. I posted a couple videos taken from Turn 2 in Mark Anderson's thread.
I'll see all of you in a few weeks at Devek.
