Looks like I'm going Sunday. Ron, Why so &$&%^#% early? Isn't Sears Point only an hour and a half north?

We need to meet all the others in Emeryville at 7:30 or so. I want to leave early enough to avoid any unforseen delays, and if I shoot for 6, I might make it by 7. And there are lots of Smokeys on the East Bay roads at early o'clock. If you want to leave later remember that the 928 race starts at 9 AM and we will need to wait at Emeryville for some late comers, then battle traffic and Smokeys over the Richmond bridge and at the track. Then when we get to the track I like to go to the pits for a look-see before the races.

Well, OK then, how about leaving at 6:45 ? You take the point though.

I see your point now... I'll do my best, I might be able to hump it out of here that early, or close to it. We meeting anywhere near a Peet's Coffehouse in Emeryville? I may need a refill by then.

Also, I may need to get the tickets myself if I'm bringing someone, and it's still not clear wether or not I am.

It's early, but since the race starts at 9, it will be tight leaving Emeryville at 7:45. I mean we'll make it easily, but we probably won't get to see or help Mark or Mark before the race as they probably be in pre-grid by the time we get there.

Still trying to figure out the logistics of picking up two different daughters in two differing areas of the state. My wife can't do both as they are both around 1:00 pickups. I'm not completely out yet. Just trying to talk my sister into picking up the one in Fresno and bringing her home for a free brake job on here Explorer which is in desperate need. I'll no for sure by Saturday AM and will email Bill about meeting at the Starbucks.

Regards,

Remember, once you get to the track, figure about 20 minutes to get in, get to the corral and get situated - like Bill said, you may not have time to go and see Mark and Mark before the race, but the seats at turn 2 (where our corral is) is one of the best (if not THE best) location to watch the race.

I'll see you all there. No ruby slippers, though I might get some to match the '84 I've got to be in Rohnert Park at 3pm, so its only going to be half-day stay.

What's the traffic likely to be like on 37 that morning? Should I count on crawling the last 5 miles to the track?

You should be ok Jessa if you plan on getting there before 9am. Looks like we're going to have quite a good turn out of 928s!

Mark and Mark are at the track , Anderson's best lap time on older tires has him in 20 th place . Kibort has been dumpster diving for tire has collected 20 or so by midday . Rumor is the Audi Team never sends out a car on used tires so they simply throw them away . Must be nice to have multimillion dollar annual budgets to run this series . Beth and Richard will be crewing for Mark (they are SCCA members) . Anderson did have a starter problem from hitting something but he has McGivered it to run the afternoon session and ordered a new starter to be delivered Sat AM (not a stock part ) .

That is just like Mark A. ....cranks it up from 20th to 16 th . Looks like Kibort is 6 seconds a lap slower and nearly 10 seconds off the pace of the fastest qualifier . 15 or so laps into the race and Kiborts Mirrors will be full of cars !

Yeah, well, Kibort may not be the fastest out there but he is still out there doing it. That makes him faster than anyone else who sits around making excuses. And as Kim Crumb would say: "A winner". And as anyone who has followed the saga of Porsches in racing know, Porsches are not always fastest, but they are giant killers and content to wait until other lesser prepared cars break and then pass by for the win. That is particularly true both in longer races, and on the highways of the world. Two things are so easy to do: criticize and make excuses. Kibort seems to do neither.

I hope all of you have fun, I won't be able to make it, but I wish Mark and
Mark the best of luck. I would have loved to be there and photographed
the event.
