Smile Infineon Raceway this Sunday

Ok, so how many of us will be at the race this weekend at Infineon? I'll be there both Saturday and Sunday.

Nicole, I know you'll be there Sunday, and Bill, you've got a group leaving Emeryville at 7:30 - who who's in the group? Dennis, I bet you're one of 'em.

On Sunday, PCA Redwood Region (my region) is hosting the Porsche car corral. It's on the grass alongside turn 2 - awesome location. If you are not directed to the corral by the parking attendants just tell them you have a Porsche and you were told to park in the corral. Sometimes they forget and ALL Porsche's are welcome, even if you don't belong to PCA.

Our region alone should have 4 - 928's.

So who's coming to cheer on Mark and Mark, and on what day (s)?

Mark Anderson just left with his pickup truck and single car trailer heading North . He needs to be there for Friday Practice . The car looks great with fresh paint and new GTSR graphics . Driving there alone no pit crew no entourage just one guy with one car should be an interesting weekend .

I'm thinking about coming on up. What's the story on tickets -- as in do we even need them if we have a great view from the (free) parking area?
Thanks!!
Rick

Need a ticket to enter the raceway. All parking is free - but you get your tickets BEFORE you go to the parking lot. Tickets for Sunday are $40.

You know it! It's going to be a madhouse there this weekend. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is going to be co-driving the Corvette C5R in the ALMS race so there are going to be a million plastic sports cars and their gold-medallion-bejeweled owners glinting in the sun.

Speed GT should verrry interesting. A lot of the other cars have been saddled with air restrictors & more weight for this race. Even cars that weren't all that competitive to begin with (Vette, Porsche GT3) got hit w/ performance reductions. Should be good news for Mark A & Mark K.

See you all on Sunday.

I wish I could join everyone, but we had already committed to taking some friends to Tahoe that weekend...Bummer! I had a blast at the last 2 races I went to at Laguna. Good to see an early race, vs the late afternoon like at Laguna. Have a great time, I'll TIVO the race on Speed Channel.

Rich....rooting for Mark A. to better last years 10th place finish, and Kibort to stay out of the way of the leaders (referring to last years Kibort sandwich during the restart)

Why is it always on a weekend I'm out of town? I go by Sears Point (can't get used to calling it Infineon) twice a month, yet some how never on the right weekend.

Cool

Beth,

If I click my heels three times can I be back in my home of 4 years - Manhattan Beach? Then, I can be there on Saturday.

Thom - you need to first put on the red glittery slippers (don't let your neighbors see you though) and start clicking like mad! It's going to be an awesome race - I should say raceS!!!

Beth:

Thanks for the directions to the corral. Picking up a new Norcal'er, Kaj, on the way up. So, at least it Nocole, Ron H, Dennis, me and Kaj Hallstrom (silver 80 with 28K miles). See you there!

Would be nice, if Konstantin would join, too. But then, he always seems to 'evaporate' after a few hours...

How 'bout Jessa? Isn't that right in front of Jessa's door? She could even leave her ruby slippers on... providing she has any.

Can you post more details (or a link to your previous post)? What time is the event over? Where would I buy a ticket?

Plans are changing, can't promise anything ATM though.

Dave:
Tickets may be ordered on the web and picked up at the gate; they are $5 cheaper that way. I am ordering 2 but will order another if you want one. Why not leave at the same time and caravan up to Emeryville to meet Bill Ball? I will leave Sunnyvale around 6 AM. I can take the point with my V1; always some hungry bears in the early morning.

Penalizing for performance sucks IMO. Let 'em race. They did that to the GT-1s when they walked away from everyone. They did that to the Chaparrals when no one could touch those. They did it to the 917s too. Bull. Let 'em race. Mo bettah let em race.

Beth:
You can see my barf dash and the rest of my grey-green interior.

Everyone else:
C'mon. More Porsche people = more fun.

Nicole:
I invited Konstantin, but he was off somewhere taking photos and got lost I think. Or maybe he never made it back from Laguna and is still snapping photos there. Konstantin: Are you going to make it??
