Just something I remember about Pennypacker ^^ (aka Stealth), I was standing at the edge of the road at a Park in NH where there was a car show and his car the GT with the GTS engine was approaching. He was in coastdown, still moving pretty good and that engine was actually shaking the ground a little as it approached and went by. That sound and the look of a low dark 928 approaching fairly fast was something I won't forget.

I'm a Commercial Windows Applications Engineer for a small window dealer ( DELREY WINDOWS - the site is a work in progress ) here in Pittsburgh. Basically, I figure out how new Commercial Windows fit into new or existing buildings. I've been at this gig for 25 years. Also, at times I empty the garbage and clean the bathroom here in the office.

Retired for a couple of years, spent most of my time in hi-tech fields, started with my first computer in 1965, a Mk 1 Able in old mil speak, USN ....mechanical engineering/product/project/program/management, mostly in the computer field, but the last 10 years of work spent advising and assisting professional sales people how to up sell IT solutions to CFO's, CEO's,CTO's & CIO's, mostly in very large server farms. Worked with DEC VAX, DEC Alphas, Tandem Non Stop, CPQ, and HP boxes, and all the stuff that hangs off them. Something like 78 countries visited for work. Do I miss it? Only on paydays....they asked me to consider returning only last week....easy NO response.....

I own a couple businesses. One is a pallet/crate factory, absentee owner there. I also own and manage the sales/purchasing for a company that does Real Time Kinematics (RTK) corrections for the Ag/Survey industry. (shameless plug here) www.base-n-abox.com . No idea how the magic insides work, that is my partner's domain. I just make sure the material for production is ordered and bills are paid. Learning about it on the fly though.
Oh yeah and my full time day job is General Manager for a feed / seed/ sandbag company. So I get a lot of sleep.
And I am a part time Forex trader.

Sander/floor sweeper/slave labour family woodworking business. As a small kid, I have vague memories of falling asleep on a work bench in the shop with the guys working around me.

As a good Italian boy in high school, toured Europe for three summers in an accordian band playing classical music at all of the small town festivals.

During high school I worked as Grocery store stock boy to pay for the $500 1968 Dodge Charger I had bought from a newspaper ad.

Graduated University with Hons. Political Science degree and business. In hind sight, I should have gone to school for Mech Eng or Architecture since that is how my mind works. The problem was the pretty girls were not in those fields.

Utilized my Poli Sci degree as a Custom Cabinet maker for family millwork business. Debated the teachings of Nietzche and Machiavele with my fellow cabinet maker co-workers.

Wanted to branch out on my own and founded Passcoat Finishing Inc, a Custom Coatings business specializing in wood products for the woodworking industry. We now specialize in manufacturing Super Acoustics Acoustical Wood panel systems and other machining the woodworking industry with my CNC routers and edgebanders. I am always working on product development - wood panel systems, high gloss laminate panels, acoustic wood panel systems, audio speaker manufacturer with some Industrial Designer friends, and any other interesting products that catch my fancy.

In between starting my own company and taking over the family business I went to work with a High end German Kitchen Manufacturer, SieMatic, when they were still in Canada as a Plant Manager and commisioned a finishing plant for them.

Left that company and took over the family Millwork/Custom Cabinet business -Crescent Cabinet Company Limited - www.crescentcabinet.com . We work with Interior Designers, Architects, Contractors on High End Residential and Commercial products. We are also a Leg partner - sales and installation with Marlite for thier Designer Wood Panel systems in Canada.

Started out as electronics tech, Boooring! Then electrical rigger at sport fishing boat builder.Then owned a marine electronics installation company. Moved west and got into Resort/Marina business. Currently still in that business managing marina operations and Asset liquidation.

I always knew I wanted to do Science and went with that...but of course when picking my courses and labs I tended towards getting into sections that had the pretty girls, sometimes "grading" the class on the first day then deciding whether or not to switch...

My first job was at 13, cleaning the trough-type urinals in my father's factory-worker bar at 2:30 am every other day while trying to avoid stepping in puddles of undeterminable body fluids. I then got gainful employment as a busboy in an ice-cream parlour/restaurant where I excelled to become a short order cook. After determining that splashing hot fryer oil did nothing to enhance the skin on my hands and face or the odor of my clothing, I decided this was not an industry I wanted to stay in, so I became became a shoe salesman.

At 18, the idea of holding the calf of a pretty young lady (and occasionally sneaking a peek) while adjusting the fit on a high heeled shoe was interesting. That concept was quickly overshadowed by the reality of the odiferous essence of the morbidly-obese unwashed masses (think typical wal-mart) who would try on 20 pairs of shoes that were two sizes too small before leaving a mountain of footwear debris to be sorted and re-stocked. I lasted about four weeks before I was discharged for asking a women with whom I had spent well over an hour of agonizing indecision on her part if she understood that that about the only thing that would fit her feet would be combat boots!

I was hired at a menswear store shortly thereafter, ultimately became manager and after seven years was hired as a straight-commissioned wholesale apparel mfg rep, where I made my first fortune (really).
In the early '70s I left that to join my father in purchasing a nightclub and opened a second one a couple years later in the height of the Disco days.

Lost it all in 1980 and some how ended up selling kitchen cabinets, left that shady company a year later, started my own kitchen design showroom and then started a custom cabinet shop selling high end, very contemporary cabinets specializing in the "European" look similar to what Livio928 did/does. Loved that business, but sold out in the mid-90's to start a pub in a 1920's fire station that I renovated.

It was very successful and in 2001 I bought a three-story 140 year old building with visions of a fine dining restaurant, with 12 cool, urban loft condos above and then 9-1-1 changed the whole world and my plans. We finally started building the restaurant three years later and then hurricaine Katrina hit and all the construction costs doubled. I ultimately opened a fine-dining steak house (jakesforsteaks.com) six years ago and we have received multiple awards from Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast (national distribution) magazines as well as local and regional commendations.

I remember having a goal of OWING a million dollars when I was 32....this was assuming that my assets would be of greater value and therefore that would be a good thing.
I turned 65 today and yes, I do owe a million dollars but I'm upside-down on my real estate. This is not what I planned. I wanted to OWN a million dollars at this age!

So here I am today. Gone full circle: back to bussing tables, occasionally cleaning urinals and still getting oil splattered on my clothes! At the end of the day, I have a great business, a wonderful wife and a Porsche 928 that I've had for over 12 years. Life is good.
