Wink Hundia on my a$$.WTF!

Today ,after picking up my girl from dancing ,I had this HIYUNDI,whatever! New TIBURON on me ***. Whats the deal?I wanted to floor it but I thought there would not be to much drama to teach him a lesson. I'ts 25 degrees C here and once again my car is a bit of a dog at 60 kmph. You can shift to a lower gear. Even if there was a negative 1 too 2 gear it prob. would'nt help!. HOlY DINAH do I HAVE AN INFERIOR COMPLEX er what? Only wish I could get the BASTARD on the highway! Mike.

If it makes you feel any beter, you got beat by a "shark" as well. Though the Spanish spell it differently.

I've racked up a Honda and a Dodge Durango R/T in your honor. Hopefully the testosterone gods are appeased.

That's my favourite situation. I like giving it just enough so I pull away significantly and then fall back, and if they keep coming again and again, till finally ... BWAAAAHHH!!! as they disappear in the rearview mirror into history ....

That's OK... you'd give HIM a false sense of security while your shark spools up and gets on the pipe. Tiburons were no match for my Z and the shark is MUCH stronger past 60MPH.... He'd be like, "Hahaha, I'm keeping up with a... hey wait... daaaaammmmn..... "

Mike,

Do be careful. Though highly unlikely (on the odds anyway) it might be tuned - ie big honkin' turbo and such.

The kids have been ~400 WHP out of them when set-up properly. I wouldn't run an endurance race driving a Hopefully-You-Understand- Nothing's-Dependable-And-Inexpensive, but there's some out there that are quite quick in the quarter.

But more than likely, just some dorky kid with a cat-back...

Here is an example of the nightmare you describe. A 410HP Civic. We saw this and some other normal/trashy looking ricers at a recent 928 dyno day. All of them were running 11 to 13's in the 1/4. It was a bit of an eye opener. But as Louis said "there was awe, but no envy".

Yeah, but in traffic, I'd bet on the Porsche's ability to slide off between the gaps and leave the ****** to cause an accident on his own.

I saw two of those foreign sharks at a auto show here in SA yesterday with turbo's and NOS kits so be careful out there.

What will count in our favour is the move-over-power that our Sharks posess, It still amazes me to see the difference in other drivers behavior when you come up behind them in a Porsche than when you drive anything else.

True, true. No argument from me on the envy angle - Anybody can easily be driving a 400+HP DSM (eclipse/talon) within a week of buying one. But I don't want one.

The 'populism of performance' has happened. It's only going to get scarier out there, at least in the world of the stoplight-to-stoplight Gran Prix.

Anybody who doesn't realize that just about any current 4/6-holer can have 400+ HP at the wheels is simply living in another dimension. I do SO love the fact that a lightly modded Turbo Chrysler Minivan can hand a Vette it's a$$ in the quarter. The trick is still putting it to the ground in a package that doesn't scare the Hershey bar outta ya above 120 MPH. And making sure it doesn't frag on a weekly basis.

Besides, I prefer my Porsche. But a Civic with some alloys is one helluva lot stealthier.

Default Passion for the 9-2-8 is a function of...

I just let these kinds of punks roll on by...who cares got no time for them. I don't engage them and if they engage me...I let them get the speeding ticket. Any roid rager can benchpress 2x his/her weight but what's the point...who cares.

Beside, I gotta be careful in my "arrest-me-RED" S4 since I'm pushin' the limit on D.L. points already

Passion for the 9-2-8 = fx [GERMAN engineering (design elegance + V8 powerplant + safety + efficiency + build quality + durability) driving experience + stimulus value when at rest]
.....well you get the picture.

Lust for da RICE mobile = fx (me thinks I'm gonna get laid wit deez "BLING" looks + pedestrian but long-lived OEM styling / design + lightweight chassis and interior bits + stealth + adolescent stupidity + availability of cheap "peformance modifications" that sacrifice powerplant longevity - think crack cocaine or crystal meth)

... again you get the picture. Help me out here....mathemeticians and engineers. What is the most elegant mathematical formula a Rennlister has come across to describe the experience of owning / driving a Shark?

Later,
Tim

ps.
If Shark = Hyundai ; I'm going to order that specialty plate on Monday...what a riot!!
