Well you guys will get a kick out of this then.......

Heading up to the farm on Friday, in a hurry 'cause I have guests coming and so I'm pushing the "little red one" along.

Ricer (honda, something...) behind me picks up on the scent from a couple of miles back and decides to make a run for the roses.....he's coming on like a bat out of hell, and I'm cruzin' at about 85. We approach a long sweeping up hill climb of about 3 miles. He is coming up quick, so I put my foot into it about a mile from the top, which makes ricer boy go into hyperdrive to show me wo is really boss....

'bout a half mile from the top I back off and ricer goes by me doing "well" (very well, in fact) over the speed limit. I back off to "impulse power" just before I crest the hill and as I crest the top I observe ricer boy in flame out mode, flaps dumped full in preparation for the written invitation he is about to receive from one of New Hampshire's finest, to the "cash bar" at the local district court.

Made for a warm feeling as I drove by, kinda like the one you get from that first shot of Scotch......after a long week of takin' care of business.........

Some days are just better than others..............

And the Porsche 928 is a legend ... no question! I second Tim and Old's assessment.

Hay the kids need something to soop-up, some are nice (8%).
I don't care for rice-berners and the sounds that they make.
In most cases the tail pipe has this fosters beer can on it and
they All play the same song - boooommmmm, -booommm booommmmm!!
And drive all the same - seating way back and in the middle with one
hand on the wheel and the other on the tunes (not cool), AND bottom-out
all over the place!

Thank you Dark Blue....we're on the same page here...you're just more articulate than I was able to be in the wee hours of the night

Thanks Heinrich....

Gretch....love your story. I use that technique whenever possible around here...gotta be careful though...I have a lot of respect for the tendency of the GUARDS RED to attract the boys in blue.

Cheers,
Tim

ps.
Off to the beach for a few days...catch up with you all soon....

Well, for the ricers I always say..... you can dress a turd in silk but .... its still a turd. Doesnt make me want to have one, I have a fine example of a supermodel even though its only puttin 200 hp to the ground, it gets all the looks.

My point:
- All oriental rice cars will fall apart after reaching 120 MPH (with all mods), the body oanels WILL get loose, the engine WILL smoke all over, the "nice" interior will be crap in two seconds, etc...

-ANY 928 (real shark) can be driven to the limit, and get back to "civil mode" like nothing, the car won't fall apart, the body will not bend and crack (yep, i've seen it), and it will be as tight as ever!!!!

Me loves shark!

Don't you think that might be a bit of an exaggeration?

My oriental rice NSX didn't fall apart at 120, or at 170........
Neither did the S4. I'd rate them pretty comparable, except
the Porsche has more comfy seating....... and is CHEAPER to
maintain.

all generalizations are bad...
But seriously: i've seen some xtra-riced civics that look like they are being held together with duct tape!!!
And those interiors don't last too long either...
And the speakers can blow up!!
And the wheel wells are being grinded by the tires at every tight turn (because theya re too low)
And the tires tend to xplode!!
And....
ok, i think my point is clear

JayC, an NSX is clearly in a different class. I think figuratively, most cool modern cars' doors fall off at 120mph. Ie, they run out of torque ....

Mercedes gave me a Honda with 17km on the clock as a courtesy car once ... first, the ac grille kept popping out - would not stick. Next when I tried to close the window it exploded! Apparently it had been misaligned from the factory.

True the NSX is a different class, but having one I can tell you it's still not in the same class at the Shark. It's a nice car and all, but the 928 beats it all the way around.

But you are right about the Civic guys..it's almost sad the way they want to jump in and "race" you. they jump on the NSX as often and surely they should know what waits for them. I can understand being caught off guard by the Shark, it looks so calm cruising along at 55, then it bites you!

You can tell which one is my favorite, by where the 2 are parked in relation to each other
