Reminds me of way way back when Ed (YMMV) was pulled over for "speeding" by a Trooper. Ed pulled over and stopped, but apparently the Trooper didn't see that he stopped so quickly and ran right into the back of his 928. Of course the Trooper blamed Ed for a "quick" stop, but after many months and getting the Troopers video of the incident, Ed showed that he had pulled over and stopped in a reasonable fashion and the Trooper didn't pay attention and hit Ed's 928. Took a while, so hopefully it'll work out for you in the end and glad the damage wasn't such that the car wasn't operable.
I wasn't with this group, but I did buy the "suction mount" to transfer my dash cam from my daily to the 928 for trips. I didn't have time to mess with it before we left, but will not make that same mistake again. #goodpoint I'm sure if it was your car you would have been calm, cool, and collected.

The good part is one of the witnesses is a former accident investigator and there were multiple people who were there when the Officer and his Supervisor admitted responsibility and fault multiple times....but...there always the chance of this being the OFFICIAL response: @NewToPig has plenty of backup.

I wish if been with the group (as the 3rd or 4th car), as I run an Escort dash cam with my radar detector in my 928.

Same here with the dash cam. I've been researching LED rearview mirrors for my truck so I can mount a camera above the 3rd brake light & have full view even when towing. A bunch of new cars come this way so the tech is more than tested. Some of these mirrors also have a built in forward camera too and records both.

After this weekend I'm highly considering doing the same with the 928's and using a license plate frame wide angle camera or maybe one mounted where the 3rd brake light would be on the early cars.

If you've ever driven a new(er) car with a 360 camera, those are pretty sweet, haven't looked into adding one of those yet.

In the parking lot I recall someone mentioned the cops dash cam? Hopefully that data doesn't succumb to a "malfunction" or something.

What a mess. Folks give me sh*t about how I park my cars to keep them safe and other regular actions to avoid incidents. They always say: "That's what insurance is for" - most folks have no idea the hassle of repairing a vintage car. If we could not only go after diminished value but also pain / suffering and time spent dealing with the aftermath.......

On the "diminished value", I've been through this a couple of times. Never, ever, ever mention it until the repair is 100% approved and amount agreed upon for the repairs.

No lights, and when I said turned into us, I mean he turned into the side of the car at the last minute. There was no warning. It felt like we were rammed on purpose but that does not make sense. We have requested his dash and body cam. Will have our own in the future.

And Tom this is the Fred Perez San Juan Island car. So well cared for and such a good performer on this trip. My best running 928 thus far.............. Two owner car, both have passed away, I have to keep her going for them.

On the wreck with the police… why was the cop trying to turn around? Speeding lead car or exhaust demonstration?

I noticed that when I saw the pics. Looks repairable from the pics and hope the damage doesn't go too deep. Kudos for keeping it going. Sometimes the provenance of the 928 overrules the economic aspect. This one has a great story that will only get better once you fix it.

No speeding or exhaust. We think they were called for one of the rally groups and were responding to a complaint. We took too long to eat and were heading back on our own as the last three cars. We assumed he saw Mike first, went to flip a uturn and didn't even see me in the road (focus blindness??). No lights no siren, one land road, so you know he has to turn in late when he is only 3' away and hits the side of your car.....

Still no police report.....

It was a privilege to hang out with such a great group of friends...
Long time friends, brand new friends, and friends we had yet to meet...
Some from near, some from far, some from the interwebs helping with our cars...
Sharing memories & laughs, tricks & tips, sampling beverages from bourbon to beer, one thing is clear...
Despite our varied backgrounds, beliefs & experiences -a better group of folks would be near impossible to find...
So thank you Jeannie and friends -present & past & those taken too soon- for making our annual 'family reunion' a reality!

Prost! und Auf Wiedersehen!

What were you driving? I feel bad if I didn't notice another 928......
As for the black car, that's with the muffler in the closed / quiet position. Unless my nephew was playing with the valve (it's kinds of sticking right now so we were leaving it in the quiet position over the weekend).
It's a very simple exhaust. MSDS headers into a Y-pipe and 3" open exhaust with a variable muffler in place of the stock pumpkin.

PHOTO DUMP!!!!!

It's still funny looking back that we were working on my tow vehicle.
Again, big thanks to @skpyle (well.....kinda....I'm about to order $1,000 of toys thanks to him), @Lizard928 , and @Dundertaker for helping.
And of course my wife @Lorelei for putting up with me and all of my shenanigan's.

What happened to the truck? As stated before, the air ride conked out on the way down. Thanks to Seth we knew 100% fore sure the compressor shot craps and new ones are easily found. Also, the rear brakes smelled like they were cooked even after driving a couple of blocks. Thinking a caliper or line has sieged (which would have sucked since I installed all new calipers, lines etc... one year ago) we pulled the left rear brake. Colin found nothing wrong mechanically, and there was still plenty of pad left, but just to be safe we slapped on some new rear pads. Thanks to @hans14914 for running into town to pick those up.

Colin was thinking: "I cannot believe a 928 Erik worked on already made it this far...."

New Episode of VinWiki coming up

@Tim Murphy & @AO really are the cutest couple.
