Hey man I got those rims...all four for $1800 brand new with the rubber on them, crested centers and valve caps 10"rears 265/35 r18's and 9"fronts 225/45 r18's I thought it was a killer deal. I'm hoping i was right? right?
Yeh man I already had them on for a day before I started to restore the car and spanked them around a bit. They fit great! and totally make the car look up to date IMO. I just stood back and said "OH yeh Man!!" And got used to them quick enough that I was real dissapointed to take them off. (lol??) haha I have the guys addy if anyone else is interested. This wasnt a one time thing for this dude. He gets a lot of neat new stuff.
They are glassed in with a glass backer its called duraglass the guy works for one of the best euro body specialists in the country are are official Mercedes and Porsche body specialists backed and authorized by the companies that have come to the US to inspect the facilities for workmanship and training. I asked him if we were going to weld them, he laughed at me and said that it would take more plastic to repair warping of the sheet metal. So Glass it was then. Oh also he guaranteed them and the paint for life.
Nice. What about the bumper holes from the sprayers? I want to do the EXACT same thing, and WILL with the bumper since I had it sand blasted (well, media blast), but my paint is pretty damn nice, so I am hesitant to do those holes....
Those photos remind me that I have my own nightmare to deal with this summer. I also need to redo the bod. Are you using fiberglass or bondo that peels within a year? Do you intend to install any bodykit? If so, what?
If you want to update the look of your shark but stay stock, you may want to try the S4/GTS rear wing. Painted to match, I think it makes a dramatic difference.
If you can't find the actual wing, a reproduction can be had pretty cheap (there was a group buy here on the rennlist a few months ago). You would have to change the rear quarter window trim, and the hatch glass trim.
Regarding your antenna, are you putting in a later style roof top whip? If so check out the after market VW units. They work the same and are half the cost.
BTW, what are you doing reading this post? You should be sanding
Its fibreglass first on all the real stuff and a "bondo" type stuff called "ICING" for all the thin applied imperfections, Thats the green stuff on both quarters. The same stuff Jesse james uses to smooth out all his bodywork. Good stuff I have used it on my custom Top Eliminater Drag Bikes on top of metal and glass with verying levels of moderate to high stress flexing and havent had a problem EVER. Then the whole body will get a cover of epoxy primer, block sanded then three staged paint. The bumpers will get a "bumper primer" Its the only place the guy said it had to be different.
As far as a body kit I sure liked that black "928 projekt" have you ever seen it? I wanted to flare out the rear and the front to give it that wide look then fill it in with tireS but I really dont have the time , patience or money to do all that so I didnt do it in the name of "keeping it stock" haha. But secretly I would love to have it totally tricked out. But the original bodies of these things seem to be timeless for now and are beautiful imo so back to original with a few tweeks it is.
Man If you need to know the exact products they are using hit me on the email when you get to it. I'll point you strait to it.

Man I would love to have that spoiler but like you said you need to change the rear glass trim and the bottom of the quarterglass trim. Is this an easy fix? I saw them and of course wanted to do that right away but saw the glass 's and realized different year and probably not compatable. If it is I may do that. The antenna will be hidden in the body (no antenna) I dont want anything but lights sticking up on the car. I'd like to remove the door handles too and make it all remote but that cost MORE money haha. \

I'll ask my buddy, wouldnt hurt... I got this thing going on the side. saving me about 3 grand
All that restoration stuff looks like a lot of work but with a sweet paint job it should be pretty nice! Good luck with it. How much did you pick the car up for in the first place?
On another note - I understand what you mean by the need for the haha – with intimidating guns like that I would not mess with ya! All I know is that I would not want to be the first person you catch putting a door ding on the new paint job ;-)

Ya know what I never asked how he did that. I just said "sweet" haha I'll ask him tomorrow and get back to ya .
And Eric, I traded a thunder five handgun for it . $530 it ran and looked like this:
Also thanks on the big gun joke I dont hit the big weights for nothing I hope! haha
