186 1987 S4 for Japan, all of them LHD with cruise control, but one :
- from wp0zzz92zhs849561 to wp0zzz92zhs849746
- Only four manuals are listed with an M28/41 engine (manual transmission engine): 9696,9698,9699 and 9705. And something is strange as they are indicated with an automatic transmission...
- And two are listed with a manual gearbox (G28/13, same as for the USA) but an M28/42 engine (automatic transmission)! 9606 and 9607.

What is the gearbox number of 9701?

I'll have to get under it to check the number. Wow so this could have been a manual conversion?

I spent all day with the intake manifold. Either I forgot a lot or just moving slower.
Especially dirty. The fuel hose disintegrated. I sincerely doubt the previous mechanic actually touched the FPR. Cleaned the two grounds and the rtv sealant someone used way too much of.
It starts and idles a bit better and longer then reverts back to the stumbling and black smoke.
Going to sent the LH and MAF off tomorrow.

For some reason I'm not getting a constant power to the drivers seat connector. I get power with accessories but even then the seat won't move.the fuse is good and the passenger side works fine. Wtf?

You can easily check the engine type and number first.
I'm not sure that this is a manual conversion, as they are obviously mistakes into the records.

Does the car have a sunroof, or not?

Nice work.
It's crazy how much dirt, mud, oil, and crap builds up in the "V" of the block under the intake.

Yes it has a sunroof.
For some reason the drivers seat doesn't have constant power like the passenger seat. Only with accessories and engine on.
I'll check the engine and transmission numbers tomorrow. Got the seat back in. Bought a used power window motor. Should arrive this weekend.
I'll shift some cars around bring out the RS4 and park the S4 while waiting for the ECU.

Second wash, compound, rear spoiler removal for cleaning, got a used windows motor that works outside the car. Install it and it won't move.

Thanks.
They are consistant with a manual transmission Japanese 1987 S4. The Porsche records are wrong.

The paint code for Grand-Prix white is L908 or P5.
The interior is made of leatherette with leather covered seats, everything in gray/green. The code is certainly LA.

I would say that this car was produced in April or May 1987.

wow she is beautiful!!! that was quick putting back the interior together...almost everything works on the car...lucked out.
The window motor...either something with the connection/switch, ground, or it doesnt work under load....take it apart and check the brushes inside and give it a good clean up.
love the TT as well, but that shark looks clean and mean and ready to go...

Good job Rob.

In had that power window assembly in and out so many times. I'm going to let it sit and think about how badly it's treating me.
The parts list keeps growing.
TB/WP, knock sensors, tank level sender, ignition wires, at least 1 power window switch, fuel filler boot, used heater control, hood and hatch struts, etc.
I forgot, do these cars usually leak from the front and rear seals? I'd rather not do them but knowing my luck....
Yesterday I mostly worked and cleaned up around the garage and house.
Today I'll pull the front timing covers to see how bad it looks.

Found my mistake with the power window. The regulator was at the end of its travel. Quick adjustment and cleaning and it all works fine. Lights, wipers, radio, blower motor. All that's left are the ECUs and MAF.
I wet sanded it and will try polishing the paint. It appears the right fender was resprayed with base coat can clear coat.

Got the diagnosis that that LH was completely dead and MAF was out of specs.
They should be back soon.
Has anyone tried putting a 944 fuel level sender unit into the 928?
