Question 928 handling? good....?

I have a 944 (sig)
and was wondering since the 928's also have the rear mounted tranny how are they handling wise?

The car handles quite well, and has the sack to push the suspension to the limits.......a great combination.

If you like a 944 you will LOVE a 928 ! The suspension design for the 928 is vastly superior . Add in the power and torque and the 928 is a blast to drive .

You're joking, right? The 928 handles excellent. I've even had comments about it, driving in a straight line at speed. It just feels "planted" like nothing else... The closest I've driven is a C5 vette, which feels "nervous" by comparison, FWIW.

Just yesterday - Uphill, slightly curvy road with a nice camber, wet conditions 85 mph all the way. I could have gone faster but it was enough to humiliate the V8 Holden that was trailing.

What Jim Bailey aka Yoda said. Owning a 944 and 944S I soon realised I liked the look of a 928 and particularly the S4 ..... But little did I know, the 928 was not only the big bro of the 944 (an amazing wonderful Porsche itself) .... but literally twice the car. Damn. Try it and be ready to be addicted twice as hard as you are now to the 44

Jason,

Join the PacNW 928 Owners Group on June 19th for the Heckowee tour. Bring the '86.5. We'll adjust your attitude.

One note. The 928 feels brutish to me. Not light and nimble, but powerful.

I've never driven a 924 or 944 before, they just don't appeal to me right now, however, they're always describes a light, nimble, and quick.

That is NOT how I would describe my 928. I would use the words "powerful, smooth, planted, slick, and heavy." The car feels brutish more than anything else to me. Heavy, but with the power to over come it.

It make you earn the turns.

I had a 951 that had the Koni yellows. It was nimble and tossable. The car is light and agile; I had some problems with throttle-lift-off oversteer... but that could have been the driver.

I just bought a 928 3 weeks ago and I've only driven it about 25 miles (I'm doing the timing belt so my new hobby doesn't grenade). So, I really only have inital impressions of the 928's handling. It's not as light as a 944, and not nimble; it feels large but... muscular? Athletic? Something like that.

Put it this way: the 944 is like an incredibly fit ballet dancer. The 928 is like an incredibly fit quarterback. They can both do the same dance, but the feeling is different-- the 928 has more 'heft'.

My 2 cents.

Comparing the handling of a 944 to a 928 is like comparing apples and oranges, totally different animals.

Thaddeus saids it best; the 944 is like a ballet dancer and the 928 is a husky football player.

Both are wonderful cars for their intended missions. The solution? Have both.
