So it looks like there are more than one supplier of the green material gaskets since Greg says this isn't one of his? That's too bad as that color used to mean you bought the right one. Wish I had Greg's green gasket on both my 928s, as both have red silicone versions, and both have small leaks
Greg didn't announce his until about 2 weeks after I had done the job with the red one on the 83 motor that's in the 79 Spyder.
Regarding pan gasket leaks: A car I bought a couple of years ago had some leaks around the edge and from some bolts. It was not timely to replace the gasket, so I ran an experiment. Bought a tube of DreiBond and cleaned off the edge of the pan/block, removed dripping bolts and cleaned them and the area they occupied. Then spread a thin film of DreiBond on the edges where the leaks had been and put a thin spread of it on threads of the 6-8 bolts. Re-installed the bolts to torque spec, then went for a drive of a few miles (to circulate oil in the system). Result is no oil leakage after nearly 2 years of driving. I'd been told that the DreiBond is activated by the oil, and seals well. That is accurate, based on my experience!
An old Rennlist term is required here, however: YMMV !

Last I knew about him, Ed moved to Spain about 20 years ago.

He also used to rant at people to RTFOM anytime someone posted a silly question.

There are now two vendors for the green pan gasket. I purchased them both and Greg's part is superior. The other will do, but Greg's is clearly better.
Very odd, However the GREAT news is you have an "OB" style oil sump-pan....worlds better than the later "S" pans..... I did have a few issues with the stock cork gasket in combo with the 3/8th spacer leaking, but that was my fault during installation....2nd time around fixed it

I make a thin version of the green gasket to go between the block and the oil pan spacer.
And a thicker version for the spacer to the oil pan.
This cured any issues with installing a pan spacer.
In some instances, when the block and the oil pan are very flat, I'll use the thin version, in the stock application.
As always I appreciate the feedback. We have been making the pan gaskets for nearly 20 years after we developed the silicone gasket.
About two years ago our seal manufacturer offered a new gasket material - similar to GB's I believe - which as GB says is superior. This is a readily available gasket material and not some special material made to order.
Initially, we found that using the same tooling as for the silicone gasket, produced a gasket that did not quite fit as per this post. There is no "give" in the material versus cork and silicone.
We then made adjustments to the tooling to better accommodate a rigid none flexible material.
I do not know the customers name so I cannot see when we supplied this gasket. Had we been contacted - we are very approachable - we would have responded accordingly.
To ensure an even better fit we will supply an oil pan to the manufacturer and if necessary make adjustments to the tooling.
As for shipping - this is a large seal and not flexible - we ship in a special box. Shipping prices continue to increase and are out side of my control.

Sorry for the delay. That UBER oil pan gasket in this thread, was one of our first batch made using the silicone OP tooling. As I do not know the customer I can't research any further - we sell about 20 a month.
We improved the fit about 18 months ago after Sean found the same issue as Speedtoys. Shame he (speedtoys) did not contact us but I am sure he had an ulterior motive 8>. We could have easily replaced it and overnighted one of our current gaskets - but there you go.
Sean had just removed a GB gasket from a customers car (nothing wrong with it just replacing a pickup seal). We had the chance to compare one on top of the other. There is a slight difference in a couple of the holes but certainly not enough to cause a fitment issue.
The main difference is the four holes at the front but a little flex and the holes line up.
But to ensure our gasket is perfect, we are sending an oil pan to the gasket manufacturer, to ensure a 100% fit with upgraded tooling.
Pictures for comparison. TOP = 928sRus Bottom = GB
For comparison
We learned 2 very important things in this thread.
1st, Roger has very nice toe nails, and does not personally make gaskets.
2nd, Greg has issues with computers and does not personally make his own gaskets with a " computer controlled machine".
