Pictures of PCA race at Laguna Seca Cork Screw
Wow, what a great day we had at Laguna Seca! I joined Ron H (thanks again for driving!!!), Bill Ball, Jerry not Garcia, and Shmurzik to see the 928 racers.
In addition to seeing the two Marks, I got to meet two more 928 racers: Joe Fan (who unfortunately was not able to run becaue of a head gasket defect), and Dean Krentz from British Columbia, Canada (I don't remember, if I got the last name correctly, but I do remember that he is a super nice guy!!!)
It was very impressive to see Mark Anderson's racer perform. I thought it was sensational that only two 911 based racers were able to outperfom him - the rest of Porsche racers only got to see his taipipes... unless they were laped. Here are a few pictures of Mark's performance in the difficult cork screw (files are large!!!):

Also very impressive were Mark Kibort's duels with a former Porsche factory race car. Mark eventually beat him into submission. Even more impressive, however, is Mark's dedication. He drives the Holbert car to the track, loaded with all the materials needed. Then he preps the car at the track by removing everyting unnecessary, changing exhaust and tires, etc. We got to see the reverse action - not many people would want to go through that trouble at every race weekend!
Unfortunately, only two pictures of Mark and the Holbert car came out OK (sorry, Mark!):

Hopefully Mark will post a picture of the car as it was artfully packed for the way home... Mark: I really admire you for your energy to go through this every time!!!
Dean Krentz did a great job with his blue Euro 928. I would think he probably has the least experience with this track, but it was delightful to see him perform. Here are a few pics:

Thanks for the great pics Nicole! I see some Sharks out there that need some height adjustment The first shot of Deans car looks like he has about 1/4" to spare.
Your right Nicole, hats off to MK for his dedication and energy. Very admiral.
Way to kick tail everyone!

Nicole -
Very Nice and Thank You - What year was the blue euro?. Do you by chance have any more info on it such as performance mods?.
I ran Firedbird International raceway (East Track) last weekend and on Friday I blew my radiator - fixed it Sat. morning then on Sat. Afternoon - I blew out another hose - Damn Phoenix weather -
Thanks again for the pictures - good job!

Thanks to all that came out and cheered us on. We really do appreciate it. We had several people come by to say how shocked they were that 928's we beating so many 911's.
My hats off to Kibort for guessing my best lap time and finishing position. He only missed by .3 seconds on the lap time and 1 position on the finish.
It was great seeing Dean on the track and getting to check out his car in person. He has done some nice work. I think he is really ready for a big motor now.

Mark - expect a large gathering of 928 owners when you run PIR. It'll be a great weekend - This Saturday at Exotic Motor Werks (See admin thread) tech session, I am going to invite everyone out to cheer you on.

Yes, Thanks everyone that showed up for all the help and cheering. It really made the weekend even more enjoyable for all the hard work!
Mark Anderson did an awesome Job running a personal best 1:34ish time and beating more cup cars than Ive seen on one track in a long time. (and a couple of GT3RS and motorsport upgraded cup cars (basically an RS ).
I ran a 1:41.xx , about a second off my best time, but i guess my luck ran out with the used tires. my fronts found in the trash 2.5 years ago, just were aweful and i had a push that made it incredibly slow on 3 of the major turns . However, for how bad the car felt, the time is pretty good.
Beat a guy that was working me over the entire weekend, in a '98 cup car on Yoko racing slicks. I owned him on turn 6 and the corkscrew, and he was beating me everywhere else!! We both had a great time and talked about it after the race!. Dont know the places, but after qualifying 32nd, i think i managed to make it up to the mid 20s by mostly attrition and a few passes. In class i was 2nd (GT2S).
Great job by Dean to run a 1:44.9 in practice and possibly better in the race. His car looked great and ran well. If he fixes the fuel pick up problems he had in the race, he would have been even faster!
Thats the last of the " mouse motor" racing for him as he moves up to a 6.5 liter stroker.
