With winter gripping the country including us in Florida a pretty white car in front of a palm tree can warm you up 😀

Dave, I was at this auction in Monterey in August of 2014 when this car sold for a then auction record of $38M; I was able to get right up to it and really look at it before it crossed the block (I believe it is the same one in your photo above):

I still prefer the 250GT SWB.

There's something wrong with the GTO's windscreen. Too vertical maybe.
I realized this while in front of 6 of them

You were in front of 6 of them? Where and when? This is the most valuable car in the world (outside of a freak MB300SL that recently sold) and only 36 were made, and not all of them are known to exist anymore. I saw 18 Ferrari pantaloon fender 250 Testarosas displayed together at the same event as where I took the photo above, in 2014, at Pebble Beach Concours. Each one then was worth around $15 to $20M - there was a quarter of a billion dollars worth of cars in that little pack alone, sitting on the 18th green. Crazy! It was half of all 250 Testarosas left in the world.

A Ferrari race before the 24 Hours of Le Mans, many years ago. I was shocked to see so many of them into the paddock but SO pleased to see them raced in anger on the track!
Such a different experience than seeing them sitting on display at a car show.

And the other Ferrari's were very interesting too.

I don't really know Ferrari models particularly well, but I was up at an SVRA race weekend in September and snapped some pics of some cars that people may agree fit in this thread. What made me think about it is that there was a replica (?, and I include the "?" that because of the pictures that follow, so there's at least a chance it was real. Either way, I didn't take pictures of the car, as it was parked on the street before the big parade that happens in Watkins Glen and the car was mobbed, so no clear picture was available).

At any rate, here are some cars that also take my breath away, and were a pleasure to see in person. Bugatti was the featured marque that weekend and there was a tent with about 20 of these things. I don't have a real sense of what each of these is worth but it was an astounding display of concentrated car value. I didn't take pictures of the full cars as, by and large, better photographers than I have provided that over the years, but I focused on the things on these cars that I had never seen before. It was like a steampunk fantasy of beautifully engineered machinery.

One last Bugatti, not a race car:

Hard to get a good angle on that last one, but I wanted to focus on the boat tail (?) as it is so distinctive.

More non-Bugatti stuff up next!

Cheers

Again focusing on the engineering and hardware, I saw this car last year but didn't have the stones to go and talk to the team. I did, this year, and the guy working on the car was super welcoming and let us take some close looks at this beast. If you zoom in you can see the honor roll of drivers that ran this thing at Le Mans.

There's an open wheel car (F1 looking, but no team livery, so I don't know what's up with it) that also shows up, with a Judd V10, for the weekend but not even that car was anywhere close to this thing out on track. What a treat to see it driven in anger.

Cheers

Finally, a tale of two Zs, which I also think are very pretty cars:

I took a lot of pictures of the other Zs that showed up to race this year, but these two are probably my favorites.

Cheers, and Merry Xmas, y'all!
