What the hell were they thinking?

Ed,

We have gone full circle several times, but lots of interesting and fun cars turn up as we loop through.

So many cars - - - so little time!

I met one of my hero cars "brother" today. I've always had a crush on the 550 Maranello and a friend of mine has a 575 in his garage for a few weeks.
The exterior was everything that I had imagined it would be but I was a bit let down with the interior. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely nice and I know I'm biased, but the interior in my 928 "feels" nicer to me.

By-Tor,

It is unfair to blame Jaguar for the series 1 1/2 and 2 e-types profile appearance with the raised headlights. It was the US Traffic and Highway Safety organization that 'decided' the series 1 headlights were TOO LOW, and the car could not be allowed to be sold in the US with the series 1 headlights. Good old American Government Bureaucrats caused that change!

NOW, this same organization allows headlights in large SUV's and Pickup trucks to be at about the 4 foot level, so even on low beam they blind drivers of standard size vehicles. Why is THAT safe???

Gary

This one features its own crushable snowplow!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I find that I am drawn to cars that look "different" and interesting in their own right. Some cars are downright ugly, with unusual proportions, non-coherent design elements, or overwrought features. Others are just boring. But for me, the beauty in a design is that it has a purpose relative to the overall mechanical and engineering package, while still being attractive and not looking like all the others.

I have always been drawn to the Citroen DS line, ever since seeing one regularly as a kid in my small hometown of 2,000 people, owned and driven by the high school principal. This car looked then like something from the future, and to this day there has been nothing like it, both in terms of appearance and mechanical engineering. Almost every design element has a purpose relative to function. I would love to experience and own one someday.
