Maybe pick a few (5) winners from the suggestions, then add a poll to the thread, and do the 1 or 2 that get the most votes?

If you have a good idea, please post it.

If you are attending Frenzy and your car has a specific issue that needs to be diagnosed/repaired, and you think doing so will be helpful to others, let's hear it.
How about doing--or walking through--a "crankshaft endplay" measurement? Since most 928s are automatics and every one of them wants to avoid TBF, maybe a talk about its importance and rules-of-thumb associated with either the procedure or the warning signs (of TBF) might be useful--assuming that this hasn't been covered in past Frenzies...

We did this two years ago on my car and I'm still sleeping the deep restful sleep of a .002 end play clearance..... Someone recorded it, hopefully the talk is up on Youtube.

As for ideas, it's probably not worth occupying the bay but I could pull my Driver's seat and replace the 4 plastic bushings to fix the whole seat moving thing. I designed and printed up replacement bushings and will bring some to the event if anyone wants to buy a set.

@Christopher Zach : I'd be in for seeing that, and a set. I've discovered the same issue myself.

Cheers

No problem. I have an 86.5 which is a bit different from the later models but the front bushings are the same. The rear clip bushing thing is different but I *think* you can get it from a good supplier. If not I should make up a batch of those too.

Parts are printed in PETG and a description of the process is over on Openroad.site.

Default Central locking dignosis.

Perhaps a seminar on diagnosing failures in the central locking feature of older vs newer model 928's would be useful. You know, when all individual components check out but the dash button does not work as before..

Another vote from me for sunroof. I have (2) cars to remove, repair the sunroof from, and have ZERO clue…

Also, very interested In The crank end play check and adjust….all my 928s are manuals, but it is an intriguing subject…

As far as odometer gear….I’ve done it (3) times, but I do have a pod/cluster that needs it, sitting on the shelf, that we can use as a guinea pig….

I'd love a parking lot tech session - my a/c stopped working - took it in for a charge, and my indy said the compressor wasn't coming on. He pulled out the freon (r134) pending further analysis. I took the car back to perform my own analysis. Fuses are both good, will order new compressor relay. Assuming those things do not work, help my diagnose what may be going on. I'll bring a can or freon to recharge it.

I'll have my A/C manifold and tools with me as I'm going to have our resident HVAC expert (Ron) take a look at my pressures too. '81 is also on 134 so will be compatible with yours. I have semi-cold A/C, but it's not as cold as what comes out of my pickup so want to make sure I have everything right on mine with all the new parts (EV, drier, etc).

Ed, I'll have the usual full raft of tools and such, as well as my AC gauges. I can bring my vacuum pump as well.
Having said that, it could be the dreaded AC relay on the heater control board. You need to see if 12VDC is coming out to the freeze switch from that relay.

Awesome guys. I'll have replaced the relay in the CE panel, but not the one on the heater control board. You guys can show me how to test for that. We can do the a/c at Frenzy on Saturday in the parking lot, before the tour, or during (I will not be touring, but Seth, I think you co-pilot with Bob V?)

I'll be doing the drive, but will also be there all day Friday after some exterior clean up work, so maybe Friday afternoon will work too.

Or Friday evening in the parking lot. I won't be there until close to dinner on Friday.
