Paalw, where in Norway can I find these cars? Someone should take care of the cars and start renovating them to a condition like new and save them for the future. We here in Sweden are very worried about the large number of electric cars in Norway. It is a threat to our interest in the internal combustion engine and its modification for more power.

I know of 51 in the State of Minnesota. At least as of 2017. So not many for sure.

don't know about the #'s... wait , i had 4 of them not so long ago
Think i spotted 1 or 2 over the years ..... very rare to see one.
A lot are "for sale" .... but no active market. I suppose most people don't know what a great car it is , but just ignore it due the "model" that doesn't appeal for the most.....as classic Porsche is 911 and no more.

I am going to throw in my guess of actual running and driving cars... 18,542. After all it is a guessing game.

Worldwide I suspect some level of attrition on a daily basis, so less than there were yesterday and more than there will be tomorrow.

My guess is around 16,000 have survived in serviceable condition. There are probably another 10,000 in various stages of decomposition as parts cars.

Still quite a few 'buckets' around.

And, as a clarification, the "In various states of disrepair" category includes project cars that are actively being restored.
AirtecHVAC's #30 falls into this category. So does Seth's "Red Witch" project.

I think one factor that has preserved a lot of 928s over similar cars of the era is great rustproofing from the Porsche factory. I'm also an E24 6-Series BMW owner (86,000 sold globally from 1976-89) and I feel like there's far less of them left than 928s because they were rust vulnerable. The earlier E9 CSi Coupes even more so were rust prone and very difficult to find now.

My ballpark figure: 22,000 remaining globally.

Keep in mind, many are probably sitting in a barn or garage either being restored, or waiting their turn.

I have (4). 3 are currently not registered, and 1 of the 3 is a parts car, never to ride again.

I am like Ron. I have 3 currently a 1991 S4, 1983 S, and 1979 OB. All of them are drivable and in good shape.
