The Kiln that we were drying the gorgeous Black Walnut wood for the railings and stair treads in caught fire and burned! ... ARRRRGHHHHH!
Back to the drawing board! Literally!
Lighting for Mezzanine is still backordered...
Upper cabinetry for kitchen and bar is back-ordered...
Carpet for Mezzanine is backordered...
All three were ordered at least 6 months ago!
Tomorrow the grinding tank, pumps and sewer connection will be installed and connected. Then we can schedule final grading with 6" of road base and first layer of asphalt! That will eliminate sooooo much dirt and mess.

Also have these and about 50 other Porcelain signs in the quiver for a rotating display... I have tried to buy some Porsche large scale dealership signs and have bid over $30k for them but they end up going over $50 and even $60k for them... Its nuts!
Hope that I do not make too much visual chaos, but, I've never been known for being skilled at restraint...

The hip replacement went well and I was walking in the door to my home in just under 15 hours door to door! Could have escaped a bit faster but I was already well outside the normal envelope.
We did a Direct Superior approach to avoid nerve damage and only had to split the IT band with a longitudinal finger split of the tissue. He got the huge cyst out that was sooooo painful and found that the femoral head was collapsing. Tons of inflammation remain from all of the tissue damage and there is some serious tendonitis in the Achilles and groin. The good news is that I should be able to attend Sharks in the Mountains and the PVGP! Might have to drive The 94 GTS because she's a slush box... Or is it a Roger Box! Its a pretty one none-the less...

It went from 50 deg to 90 in one day! Last of the snow piles melted so fast it was like they evaporated! Some outdoor details are moving forward, like hooking up the sewer and water. Also getting ready for final grading and gravel install of 6" of road base for under the first layer of asphalt. Siding details getting sorted and the "Versa Stone" is getting delivered for the lower part of the building and dressing out the pillars. I guess a few photos will help tell the story... Backside first!
Frontside is still messy...
The asphalt will be 2" in the first lift this year and another lift of 1 1/2 " in a year or so - - - when we re-do the main road and complete most of the other buildings. This will hopefully be the last photo with the plastic sheeting hanging on the veranda... That stuff is fugly!

Just one more thing.
I have two fun neighbors that are joining the fray and building multiple car caves, (one of them purchased my old 12,800 sq ft building). All of the 20 acres of land is private and controlled by four of us. Plans are not complete, but it looks like 25 or so new units and close to 200,000 total sq ft of high end indoor car and boat storage and, dare I say - a private car museum. I've said it before, this area is full of significant car collectors and the core of American car industry individuals have their retirement homes here - - - so it's a fun car environment. I'm the only 928 guy though...
Right now we are working our way through condo docs and association formalization. Nightmare of paperwork and placing aesthetic standards for no outdoor storage or visual blight. (we don't want no steenkin Ferrari GTO's sitting uncovered on jack stands in the sun and snow...).
Our model is The Collectables at Bay Harbor if you want a visualization. We have some pretty awesome *invitation only* Cars n Coffee events there.

Great news on the hip Dave. After the first few weeks, healing starts to come faster. You'll be feeling fully great in no time. See you in Pittsburgh!

The Hip is really sore and stiff today but it comes with the turf. Worse than the hip is a partially torn Groin Muscle and Achilles tendon that just do not want to heal. Thinking of PRP injections.
My problem seems to be related to trying to accomplish too many things at once. Oh yeah, back to work...

Dave,
You have to take time to rest and recover. I guess it is the father instinct that says rest and heal so it heals correctly so that you don't have to do it again. Just a fellow 928'r that is trying to help.

Rest is relative. It's not like I'm physically working on the project. I am taking care of business on a professional level and answering questions, reading through proposed Condo docs and that sort of thing. The groin muscle is getting better, but the achilles tendon is talking to me for some reason.
I know what utter exhaustion feels like... This ain't it!
Play on...
One more thing... Here's what the other buildings look like: Two duplexes are pretty well roughed in, and receive their finishes from the new owners when they are sold.
Going to be cars and boats of all shapes, sizes and descriptions around here!

I am certainly glad your surgery went well, but I have to agree here. I have never injured myself worse than when I re-tore my calf muscle 10 days into it healing from being previously torn. It then took much longer to heal, and required crutches and physical therapy.
Your ski pictures suggest an athletic background, so you probably know a lot of this, but maybe listen to our collective fatherly advice and at least give the healing process a little space to do it's amazing work.
Carry on!
