New Garage - - Car Cave

Went over to the Car Cave this afternoon to work with the electrician on some details about the lighting. Noticed that the siding that had been on backorder was up and we are now down to doorjambs, the stone, finishing wrapping the columns, decorative wood trusses and details on the outside... The snow piles are mostly gone and I'm hoping against hope that winter is over!
There has been significant progress on the interior. Lighting, painting, cabinetry and a host of details are in progress. I learned that the garage door company did not send the sprockets for any of the doors. Since the doors were ordered just over a year ago the company wanted to charge us for not reporting the material shortfall even though they were not delivered until two months ago. Had to chuckle while talking to their service rep., he agreed that it was ridiculous, we ended up laughing at the situation and it was resolved. Garage doors remain a problem for almost every person I talk to in the construction industry.
Pictures tell the story so here are some other perspectives...
Bar cabinetry...
My temporary crutches: I get my new hip on Star Wars Day - May the 4th be with me!

Here's shot rolling it over from the old building!
It's super cool to have a great builder and fun employees!

You know that you have an epic garage when you can fit a full size roadside sign inside and it doesn't look out of place.
Looking good Dave!

There is a warm spot in my heart for Texaco too.
There was a Texaco gas station near my place (quarter of a mile) when I was young.
It was the first place I went for gas for my scooter and motorcycles...
Real cool sign Dave.

In general, Petrolania has been appreciating wildly and rare, original pieces have been going for astronomical prices...
I've been collecting metal porcelain signs since I was a kid because I liked the subject matter, durability and colors.
As time goes on I will put more of them up in the car cave...

The Kiln that we were drying the gorgeous Black Walnut wood for the railings and stair treads in caught fire and burned! ... ARRRRGHHHHH!
Back to the drawing board! Literally!
Lighting for Mezzanine is still backordered...
Upper cabinetry for kitchen and bar is back-ordered...
Carpet for Mezzanine is backordered...
All three were ordered at least 6 months ago!
Tomorrow the grinding tank, pumps and sewer connection will be installed and connected. Then we can schedule final grading with 6" of road base and first layer of asphalt! That will eliminate sooooo much dirt and mess.

Finally re-purchased this killer, ultra-rare 48" porcelain sign by the Wasatch Oil Company from a friend I had sold it to in 1993 after finding it in Ogden, Utah in 1982.
The Wasatch Oil Company expanded from its original refinery north of Salt Lake City and built a new refinery in 1937 in Pocatello, Idaho and became the Wasatch - Idaho Refining Co.. Then they built another refinery in Spokane, Washington the following year. In 1937, 30", 42" a few 48" Wasatch Oil porcelain signs were displayed at filling stations scattered around Utah, Idaho and Washington. This 48" sign is a rarity. In 1948 Phillips Petroleum bought out the assets of Wasatch - Idaho Refining Company and production increased dramatically. When one drives north out of Salt Lake City on I-15 the refineries existing there today occupy the original site of the Wasatch Oil Company.
Putting it in the Car Cave as soon as my hip allows...
