Exclamation 10 seized 928's up for Auction on March 2 (Atlanta area)

Some of the local enthusiast may have more details on this auction...,
I just read in Feb 24 Forsyth County Paper that the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office (Atlanta Area) is conducting a March 2,10:00 AM auction in their parking lot at 101 Castleberry Rd, 30040.
It will be ten 928's seized from the infamous 928 Garage (owner/operator Richard Van Meeteren), a garage/owner we have been previously warned about in this forum. The Sheriff's list includes 7 VIN numbers that range from 1978 to 1986, 2 VIN numbers without a year and 1 brown 928 without a year or VIN.
Other auction details indicate some of the 928's still have keys, others do not, sold as-is, and buyer beware.
There were no details about the drivability of any of the 928's and the Sheriff makes no guarantees about the titles other than the cars are the property of the defendant Meeteren.

One way it goes on is that word-of-mouth has lost its original bite that it had before the internet. Back in the day if you ripped enough people off it got around pretty quickly, then your reputation was set. Business survival was difficult after this. For every position one can post online an opposite postion can be posted. It becomes a war of clicks and online presence where many of the truly objective consumers of the information throw up their hands in disgust from all the conflicting claims. It almost doesn't matter because the internet continues to supply an endless stream of far reaching new customers (victims)

Even in this space IB has be careful, for their own liability protection, about what is allowed to be and remain posted, so moderators often close or least threaten to close/ ban topics like this from continuing. This has happened on here in the past on this exact subject matter with a complaining customer who has already posted in this thread. Unless you all want this thread to disappear hold off on the name calling and personal attacks, and be patient. The machinery of justice sacrifices speed to achieve maximum torque.

It would be great if IB had a policy to follow for weeding out bad business actors, there is certainly more work to do in this area.

Ouch that’s gotta hurt. I know people have had issues with him. But not nice to see anyone have this happen. Hopefully no customer cars are involved.

^ OP states that the cars are all the property of Richard. Hmmm this will be interesting. Any website or FB page about the auction?

I'm trying to figure out how the sheriff can sell the cars without proof of title.

That sounds like they could sell one, which turns out to belong to someone, but was at the shop for repair.
How does that work?

My guess is that the registered owners of cars that were in the shop at the time of seizure were contacted and allowed to come get them. However, it is entirely possible that there were customers who brought in cars to get repaired prior to them being titled in their name. In that case my they would be SOL I believe.

I heard rumors that RVM took customer cars to a farm owned by his wife's family to try and hide them from the original owners who brought them in for service, but said he was working on them at the shop. It would absolutely stink to buy one of these, apply for title and find that it shows up as a stolen vehicle and then the actual owner shows up to claim his car. Could that actually happen?

Sheriff ran the VINs. I got a call about my car that was over there. That car was segregated from the rest with other customer owned cars.

Kevin, now, why in the world would you have had a car over there?
