Hi Seth --

You can easily open your high-res JPEGs in the native Windows "Paint" program and reduce the resolution and file size painlessly. Save-as the smaller file and share those. Most folks are viewing on HD (1920x1080) monitors so not much benefit to posting bigger. They get scrunched by the VB software anyway. If folks desire a specific picture in original res, they might ask for it by e-mail.

IB’s software could de-res them on upload. Trivial code to implement. Should have been done 10 years ago and would have already paid for itself at least twice in terms of disk space saved.

But, apparently better to disable users ability to upload pictures when an uncommunicated-to-users metric is exceeded.

I use a program called fotosizer that let's you scale a whole batch of photos to a certain size by target resolution or storage size in one click.

Or, if you backup your photos to Google photos, it already downs ales them slightly and if you upload them from there instead of directly form the phones storage location that also works.

Another option is to do a screen capture right from your phone which saves them at a smaller size, then upload that version.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your advice! However...
This is a little murkier than it appears. I am unable to download any photos taken with my Canon anymore to THIS thread. Yesterday, I was able to download a photo taken by my Canon to a thread I have open on the RL glitch and test forum: https://rennlist.com/forums/rennlist...t-message.html

I am at a loss as to why I was able to download 30 photos from my Canon in 3 posts to this thread, and then no longer able, and then could download 1 photo from my Canon to the other thread...

Testing photos here, and apologies for the delay. We had a great trip home (i.e. didn't get caught or killed) and the GT ran perfectly. It's been said a million times, but these are GREAT road cars!!

These are reduced to 1600 pix wide, let's see what happens...

The SITM car wash, 3 lanes and no waiting.

Critical maintenance in progress ... our GT sleeping in the background

Cars sleeping, owners not so much...

Dave & Jeannie, We had a GREAT time, and can't thank you enough for throwing a terrific party!!

Seth (skpyle) sent me a couple of his images to try uploading. They were full-sized (5472 x 3648) and bombed with the unhelpful "Alert" message.
I've posted details in Seth's "Glitch" thread, here (they failed there also).
It's got to be a size issue, I think.

Okay. Okay. I'll say it. Size does matter.

Yes it is. He traveled in with Darien Nunn (with the baseball hat on) and I from the DFW area. A great guy and I really enjoyed spending time with him.

dr bob, Jim, Pete, worf, George, Ralph, Rutabega, and anyone else I might have missed, thank you very much for your advice! It looks like one of the photos is the problem child. Most of my photos from my Canon are in the 8 MB size range. This one, 2021-06-05 193, was 10.2 MB. And ran afoul of RL software. That is still being investigated. For now, I was able to poorly resize the offending photo, and am back to posting.
