Default Bike Rack for the 928???

Hello all.

I've looked around a bit and I'm wondering if there is a product that is a good fit as a removable bike rack, the strap type, onto the rear of the 928?

I certainly cannot afford what I have found as far as a full trailer hitch, and not sure I would want that on the car. Not really liking the idea of a system on the roof either, unless it makes sense.

Whats out there?

Any advise, guidance and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

The factory roof rack is quite awesome. But they are very rare and go for good money. All things considered, not much different in price than a roof rack for a modern 911:

I have one, works really well. Open the hatch, you see those two fasteners on either side in the tray? That's what holds the rear bar on.

Avid cyclist here. I've never liked bike racks, for a variety of reasons (theft, road grime, rain, garage doors). I've easily fitted a bike inside my 928; I think two might fit. Front wheel off, of course. Road bikes - not my fat tire eBike.

Ask Dave Roberts, I'm pretty sure that is what the black capsule is between his bikes:

A large full suspension 29er will fit in the back of a 928 with the front wheel off. I've considered a hitch rack, since I have a factory 928 hitch installed, but it isn't a standard 1-1/4" or 2" receiver so I would have to make an adapter. To many project in line in front of that so I haven't done it yet. If I so I'll probably start with a 1up-USA rack as i really like the design and it also appears that it is probably the easiest to modify the mount on. My other though is to redesign the factory hitch ti incorporate a standard receiver when I move it from the 85 to the 86.5.

Yes, I like that solution for hiding the hitch and what I envision doing with the modified OEM design. For me, I don't like the bumper mounted receiver, as I will actually tow things with it, but if I was just looking for a bike rack option. I agree the simple solution is to just bolt a receiver to the bottom side of the bumper and cut a hole in front of the license plate for access.

If the passenger seat works properly., put it all the way back, both front & back all the way down. Recline as needed for headroom (a non-sunroof car offers an inch or two more headroom).

As far as 'stuff' goes, there's a lot of room under the hatch.

Hi and sorry for the up! What did you choose finally? Honestly I'm not a fan of roof racks, but there is no alternative unfortunately
