Default 928 GT - anyone aware of examples for sale?

i'm currently looking at early 928 5-speeds because i love the clean, unemcumbered lines of the early cars. but, the one downside is that they're shy on hp. a later car i'd consider is the GT, so i've opened up my search to include that model. i just thought i might find a lead or some information here with a post.

thanks in advance for any comments/info.

Are you looking for a project type car? I have a friend that has an 89 5 speed. Not a GT, but 40K miles and runs like a banshee. It'd a great project car and it's local to you.

not looking for a true project car. my time is simply too limited these days and too many cars to deal with. i want drivers that can be swapped out more than i want to spend time under them.
what is the condition on this '89? what does it need? any pics to look at somewhere? local is ALWAYS nice.

Just submitted it so I imagine it will still be a couple of weeks before it goes live.

If you are looking for a GT, I can highly recommend olmann's 1990. It is a spectacular example that is sure to be at the top of the heap for quite a while!

Look no further if you want the best...

Should bring in excess of $50,000 imo.

Rob Edwards has an '89GT that we restored. Needs a couple of little electrical things sorted out and needs to be aligned, so it is coming to my shop next week (It's currently at Rob's house....it's been on the "back burner".

EVERYTHING is either brand new or rebuilt on this GT. (I rebuilt the engine, the transmission, etc.) It got a world class paint job, interior was completely restored, etc.

If you've seen William Anast's car and the '78 Rob just finished (on its way to Monterey), you know what kind of perfectionist Rob is....and my work is always the same....as perfect as anyone, anywhere can do.

It's a very, very nice car.

It is not going to be cheap....huge dollars invested.

I will be doing similar with my 89GT. Taubenblau. But it will be a bit, and it has 188k on it. So slightly different framework for value.

I'm sure Rob has many.....however:

Rob's level of sanity is at an all time low, as he just worked several 100's of hours building this 1978 car that was started by someone else that came with 70% of the pieces that were removed from the original car.

That car literally left, this afternoon, for Monterey.

I'll ask him...next week.

Mileage on a 928 is an illusion. I've seen cars with 8,000 miles on them, where the engine is junk from not having the coolant changed. Work that into the cost of that "perfect original 928" that you just paid a whole pile of money for.....

"Restoring" a car with 60,000 miles on takes the same amount of effort and pieces as one with 188,000 miles.

They both can be made like new, with the correct sets of hands.

Restoration is all about the level of skill......and in the case of the '78 that Rob just finished, honesty.

So there you go, a bunch of GT's for sale in just a days time...

Baffles me, cause I'm not sure why anyone would sell one of these great cars!
