Haven't that anymore , more , for rally one needs a normal license plate , O - plates ( oldtimer ) are forbidden .

Oops! Working alone 99.99% of the time seems pretty quiet! With a cool garage and great projects going on, it seems like it would be a popular place for drop by's and beers...

That said, it is a lot easier to get things done when you can focus on your work.

Enjoy!

i do indeed prefer working alone… more, i know every demounted bolt , support or washer laying at a certain place…. do not like when friends look at them and change places…. haha !

and you have to tell the friends what to do and teach them how to do it.

nice @wopfe ! i will sure announce our first rally . Maybe… still this end of year… but still a lot of work to do and official papers/inspections/approvals ...just don't know.
Also big surprize is how the engine will do it with the Webers.... and get it "tuned".
But I see it happen ….

Didn't know you could personalise the "o"-plates as well.

Carbs do protrude the hood , and i always took it for granted to make 1 big hood scoop.
But now i test fitted 2 little ones…. seems nicer to me. Made them as far as i can until engine is in and i can see the exact dimensions needed.
Plan is to leave them open at the back , i hope for pressure ( not vacuum) there , just at the bottom wind shield. Will be easy to test with some fibers once the car is running.
I will keep them as little as possible , just closing over the air filters , so at the back they will be sure lower as the engine/filters are "level" trough a hood with slope.

Also ordered a box to be mounted on top of the hood , so i can test fit them together…..this box can take 4 lights dia 200 mm. ( 2 spots "far" , 2 "wide" beams )

Barry, I am considering the same as you, two small scoops instead of one large. Maybe I should go for slightly lower air filters.

yes, Ake, those seems pretty high ! I use the stock trumpets on the IDA48's with a air filter mousse per trumpet. That gives the lowest solution.
I have the "half tennis bal above trumpets " room inside.
They do not align "nice" but once under the hood scoops it doesn't matter.
Advantage is , i can just pull them of to get at the jets....

some exhaust preparation already.... have the X piece in 3" as the headers ( the 32V type from Carl with adapted flanges , but they do clear the lower bellhouse pan ! ) and reduce to 2.5" after .
Think of using ( dual 2.5 " ) flow through dampers with packing of 600 mm length direct after the X piece , another 2 of 320 mm length just before the rear bridge , and final a 4 / 4 damper at the tips , length 315 mm. Have to order the parts…. my welder will be glad

Love this stuff. Good build! I predict impressive numbers for your 16v engine.

thanks Carl for the "courage" … meanwhile i did some more measurements and think ( hope) it must be possible to keep the exhaust dual 3" .
I "think" the headers and X piece do the "power" part … after that , tubes , elbows and silencers , are only "needless" back pressure.

I ordered silencers in 3" ( 2 x 2 and 1 dual at the end ) and already elongated the X piece to have a CC of 125 mm , the smallest silencers i found in 3" .
