Crap: My car may be terminal...
My mechanic got under the car today and the front subframe is definitely bent. He's going to call someone who does frame work to take a look and give me a rough guess.
Here are pics of the lower control arm mount on the driver's and passenger's sides. The passenger side is definitely at an angle.

Who did your last alignment? Your ball joint is completely separated from the lower control arm, as if the nuts backed off. Though given the hit that wheel took, maybe the force just stripped the nuts and eccentrics off the studs of the lower shock mount (?)

Yeah, that looks like the "rod nuts in the bottom of the oil pan" syndrome.

I'm hopeful that getting it straightened won't run more than a few hundred. If it crosses $1,000 I'm going to have to think hard, since I'm pretty sure I can find a straight and rust-free basket case for less than that and basically move my car into that car. My indy is storing the car for now, and a frame guy is coming by to give me a good estimate in the next few days.
Absolutely not going to be ready for Frenzy.
Here's a sad '79 Euro that needs rescuer: https://binghamton.craigslist.org/ct...655732003.html

Shawn,
there is an 84 shell sitting at my house...the fire car. Frame is straight.
i need to get the driveline out and scarf a few more parts, but perhaps you can put all your parts in/on this one?
Put it some thought into it and give me a pm or call.

It cost me $1,000 to have the frame straightened on my 81 about 1/2 and inch so the fender bolts on correctly. It wasn't nearly as bad as that, but I live in California....
It sucks something like that had to happen. Anyway, best of luck with the car.
Worst case scenario Porsche lists how to replace the front frame section in part 50-5 of the WSM.
