Finally bringing this full circle. I started following this thread when Drooman first purchased the car and have had a mission ever since to show Deborah Gregg these photos. My Dad bought his first Porsche from Brumos in 1971 and we were at the dealership quite often from the 70s through the 80s. I met Deborah when I was a kid and saw her race many times, but she'd never remember that.

Anyway, she is difficult to track down on line. She sort of disappears after the 1990s with no updates to be found on line. Thanks to some old Brumos contacts I was FINALLY able to get her current name. I'm not posting that out of respect for her privacy. She's moved on from the world of motorsports and Porsches and has new interests these days.

However, I did email quite a few of the photos and she emailed me back yesterday. She was very pleased to see this car get a new lease on life and find an owner that was so passionate about getting her back into form. She emailed that whenever she sees a Panamera on the road she's reminded of how far ahead of its time the 928 was and has fond memories of that car.

Factory build sheet for the Brumos 928. Some questions I have are:
Why does it say "order type 928 coupe automatic"?
Z order is 06-16-1983, is this the beginning of construction?
What are seat combination numbers? (WWW)
What is seat cushion material LED?
What is trading partner UJ?
Why does it show M912 "vehicle without identification plate"

The order type 928910 denotes all 1983-1990 US market cars, both autos and 5-speeds. 15565 of them in all. I assume it means the body in white had the US market side marker holes and the bigger transmission tunnel for the A28.XX transmissions.

Not sure what that particular Z-option refers to relative to the car's production date. Looks like it was 8 months from the Z-option being created and the invoice date, but the timeline on these various build sheet dates is still fuzzy to me.

WWW signifies a custom seat code, not sure where/how more specific information was denoted given that there isn't a separate seat-related Z-option.

No idea RE: trading partner.

All of the US market '84s and some of the US market '93s have that M912 option. No idea why.

I've read in various places real pearl paint has crushed up pearls in it. Audi used the same technique which is why it's so difficult to color match those cars.

The video link is supposed to start at 34:04 - but the whole video is worth watching, some cool stuff in it. I've always wanted to find a copy of the brochure he's holding.

Back in the day 68-71 i think my Dad started a company manufactured pearlescence. Cadillac was to be the first customer.

Cannot remember all the ingredients, but lead and acetone were in there. No pearls. No swine.

Fascinating information!

Am I correct in observing that this car was ordered on June 16th of 1983, and completed on February 6th of 1984?

Is there a way to translate the equipment details from German to English or a way to obtain this information in English?

What W912 Identification plate is deleted or missing?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what Z orders are or what the numbers mean. Seems like a standard delivery 5 speed equipment-wise, plucked out of production for special wishes treatment.

I have seen "BEST. AB" on other Z-orders descriptions. My understanding is that it means that this Z-order can be realised from the date following this indication.
Usually, a more precise description of the Z-order is written on the production file of the car.

Z of Z-order mean Zusätzlich, or additional order.

LE or LED means leather (Leder) about the interior et seats description.

About the interior's description, KL was used for leatherette.
It means KunstLeder, I think.

Trading partner UJ was the distributor identifier that the car was destined to be distributed through Brumos Porsche in Florida. Distributed means that Brumos coordinated that this car either would be sold by their dealership or sent along to a Porsche dealership in the Southeast.

Wow! Snodgrass? As in a relative of Bob's?

Now there's a blast from the Brumos past... Thanks for entering the conversation!

912 means that there is no information plate riveted next to the bonnet lock. There is such a plate on Euro cars, with the VIN, typ of car, weights.

By example, a custom one was added to the Perlglanz to register her in France.
