Removed metal pieces they put inside the aluminum rear bumper I assume as part of federalization.
Weight loss!

What a nice Euro, nice color, and a 5 speed to boot! Awesome!! The federalization O2 sensor wiring with RCA stereo connectors, the crap exhaust mods and the metal rod in the rear bumper are comical. I have an 84 Euro S Automatic and always wondered how the "twin dizzy" worked (now I know). My car HAD similar federalization modifications with a real CAT installed but the O2 sensor wire was only 3 inches long and went NO WHERE. There isn't a hole in the tunnel, much less a rubber bung so they just faked it and like Stan noted the Euro computer doesn't use it... Your car probably does idle better without the input. The previous owner of my car did a ton of body work, including shaving all the side markers, rear spoiler & wiper, and installed a 3" single pipe stainless exhaust system from the CAT back. We threw out the CAT and installed a custom SS "Y" pipe to the 3" straight pipe all the way to a 12" Magnaflow muffler. It has some drone between 1K - 2K RPM, but at 3000 RPM and above she SCREAMS... I don't recommend going that route if you value your hearing! Have fun with the car and make it the way you want it!

I suspect you might have more of those Federalized scrap metals behind the door skin like my Euro BMW 635.

Would you share a pic of the compact lift the car is on? Thanks.

^^ nice looking car! I thought the rear rod looked pretty silly to me too. I had some 3" pipe lying around (I built a exhaust for my 993 turbo with a center mixer/cross over design out of 3") but went with 2 5/8 " as it was a better fit with the stock pipe, may redo it in the future. The way they put the marker lights on isn't that nice either, if I ever end up repainting the car, I'll take them off too.

^ let me see if I can find some pics of the lift.

on your bumpers whats more important are if you have the Euro cans or the shocks.
the shocks might prevent damage where the cans will crush and transfer the energy to the chassis.

If your removing the bumpers then now is time to fit a set of good used shocks to replace the cans if you have cans.

NOTE the shocks are one time use if you get some that have already been collapsed and pulled out they are scrap

Some pics of the lift.
It is perfect for the 928, 993 turbo, NSX, ferrari 328 that I've had on it. It is too small for the panamera, and the cayenne turbo.

I believe it's this one:

^I'll go take a look and see what I have (shocks/cans) on the bumpers...

I also changed out my garage door to roll up type to give me more clearance above.
And changed my lights to strips of leds, they're quiet bright.

i think these are ‘cans’ ? Will look around for some shocks. Wonder if you could use shocks off of other Porsche’s, the 993 ones look similar I think.

Thats a really cool lift in a confined area,
the roll up doors are a huge bonus,
and more secure that the typical garage doors.

yep the cans are in your car,
Fitting bumper shocks was an option in the ROW cars
