That's yet another different compressor This is pictured in my US 1984 944 factory brochure but we got the ZVW numbered unit here. I saw one like the pictured orange one on EBAY a while back.

My '84 944 is very much the same equipment, I am the second owner, purchased the car last summer, the interior on mine is black, car has been untouched and original, 87,000 miles.
Nice car .... and do you still have the Blaupunkt BEA 155
stereo unit in it as well ?
The tire pump in my Guards Red '82 build - model year '83, the Ruby Red Delete '84, the M456 Zermatt '84, and the original '84 M456 in Guards Red all have the yellow and black boxed compressors in them which look like this :
And the compressor for the series 2 cars , including my '89 - 951 all look like this:
what an amazing find, no mine did not, only the triangular caution sign that I gave to MazdaveRx7, I am replacing the front valance due to being damaged from parking bumpers. I have tried to contact the dealer in California but they have changed hands and records were not transferred to the new dealer.
A comparison..... top photo is of color matched FUCHS on a 911 turbo; handpainted center caps.
Bottom photo is of this white normally aspirated '86- 944.
Note the difference in rim width and lip display. But it's also interesting because these are both the last two instances where FUCHS are used on each of these two cars; '86 for the na 944 and '89 for the 911 turbo

This weekend is the Nord Stern All Porsche Show in Roseville Park- Roseville, MN. And the weather forecast locally is for thunderstorms both Friday and Saturday (huge eyeroll). The days I was going to leave for it.
I sure do wish I had this one all ready to go, but it's not going to be detailed out in time. I had a plan earlier to bring my '88 Jubilee / Celebration 944 with the new floor mats I got from Allen over on another thread, but that isn't close to ready either. Too much underhood cleaning to accomplish.
I don't trailer anything whether to a show or to a track event. I believe in driving my Porsches and do so every chance I get. If I could put up a video on this page I would show a couple of interesting bits of country I passed thru in Montana.
and then there was the pass made on me by several 4 door 3/4 ton diesel and duallie pickups ....... the ranchers run out hard in Montana.

Just after I shot this photo, a 4 door Ford pickup passed me at least 20 more than I was driving; I had the cruise control set at 88. Speed limit is 80 in Montana, but most are driving 90 or more. Virtually no State Troopers to be seen anywhere. ( Montana has always been known for it's very liberal attention to speed enforcement ). They used to have "Safe and Prudent" marked on the Interstates .... NO numbers to abide by.
This guy nearly blurred this image; as I put down the camera I caught a glimpse of him coming around.
Sure a lot different than in MN where anything over 73 is gonna get you pulled over. I have a ticket from 4 years ago ( and my last ) marked 73 in a 70 & it cost me around 100 bucks. Talk about nuts .........
more of what eastern Montana and western North Dakota look like around the Missouri River areas and the Badlands...... just incredible beauty. Enjoyed in the comfort and interior of a great Porsche built by one of the most pre-eminent sports car builders in the world !
the undamaged, unswollen, like new condition of the visors. In one of my series two cars which came originally from a rather 'hot' state, they look like ballooning globs of molten plastic. I bought replacements for it off of eBay, but have them safely packed away for the day I do a total refresh on the leather in that car.
These looked like they popped out of the mold yesterday. They are a sight to behold in person

"Earned patina"..... this will stay. It is a natural weathering or aging to the car and tells a story of it's survival.
I view this differently than the 'de-fuzzed' sunroof seal which will be replaced with a new one. The loss of mouse fur on that seal came about because of someone who knew nothing about the cause and effect generated by a swirling orbital pad on a fragile piece of rubber, and in a couple of passes @ the hands of a dufus, originality and 100 + bucks went out the window.

When it comes to the weather we tend to have the worst luck for that event, if it's not raining than the field is usually flooded from recent storms.
Last year the window switch on my 964 went out at the event, trapping my passenger window down with huge storm clouds looming (of course).
On the plus side, our forecasters seem to have an abysmal accuracy rate lately, so I'd take it with a grain of salt.
Still debating whether to chance a drive in any Porsche as it is nearly 300 miles one way for me and I sure don't want to run into some of that baseball and tennis ball size hail that has been seen in our regions over the last few days. We have had hail 3 years in a row the third week in June; no Porsches were damaged but several windows and roofs had to be replaced all 3 years. Crops all got hit and had to be adjusted. ( it's getting old ).
The photo images of the sunvisors turned out too dark and I will take some more of them when I get a chance; take them outside instead of in the garage.
I'll also take a few photos of the underside and some more close-ups of the interior and engine as well.
I was very thankful the last owner saw it necessary to replace the tires just before he sold it. He said it had the original rubber on it and in good conscience he didn't feel it was prudent to sell it with 30 year old skins. I remember him saying they were Dunlop SP Sports. The Toyo Proxes which he put on are not a performance tire, but have fairly aggressive treads suitable for the type of road surfaces one would encounter on the side of the Rockies. They were smooth and silent on the trip back.
