Any suggestions on what to do about mirrors? I'd like to to stay authentic which means just a rearview mirror & a driver's side mirror.

I considered running with both mirrors at first but because they don't match (and considering the amount of effort I'm going through)... mis-matching mirrors aren't cool.

This is what came off Gramps today. The one on the left has been retrofitted on to the pass side door (they drilled & clamped it down). I am not so concerned about driving limitations with the pass side mirror gone (if I leave it off... and in fact it would be my preference since the car never came with it)... but I'm worried the mechanic who does a safety inspection might call it. Should I just show them pictures/advertisements to show it wasn't part of the car when new?

I have the choice of welding the holes before repaint. Or maybe the smartest thing is to leave the holes & just plug them with nice grommets?

Or maybe someone can suggest another mirror solution? Thanks!

Previous owner's badge mounting job.... very nice!

Here is how we are looking today. The garage no longer smells like mildew. Near the lower part of the car at the back it is a bit of a gasoline smell & I suspect the is a simple gasket replacement. Not that those gaskets are available anyway.

I bought metal reinforce gasket material for an exhaust gasket I need to make. And a cork gasket material and a third, much harder material that is fuel proof.

Update: I am not an expert painter, but at one time I had *some* training by an expert... he taught me to paint an interior before the exterior... so that is what I am doing; 2 tone interior and one tone exterior.

How do you manage to accomplish so much without music?

If I get the end of an album and all I hear is the hum of the florescent lights with my wheezy frustrated breathing, I almost can't move fast enough to get some tunes on.

A $20 Bluetooth speaker should be sufficient - no?

At least you have beer.

Hehehehe... you guys are too much!

Well the last 3 days have been distracted with other things. And we are busy at work, so getting a day off work to be in the garage is not in my cards, but I will push through to get Gramps painted by Monday.

So this is where I ended last night: sealed interior. Dash & steering wheel & windshield. I realized last night that I have wasted 4-8 hours by doing the floor coating first & then covering it up to protect from overspray. I should have gutting the car & painted the inside & then outside & then lay the box-liner down on the floor... that woulda been more efficient but I just didn't know if I was going to paint the interior or exterior.

THEN when realizing I'm going to paint, I thought do the floor so it can dry, then do the interior so it can dry... then mount the driver's seat & seal the hatch, roof & door & window openings with paper so I don't get overspray, but I can still mount the driver's seat & drive the car out to the alley & spray it there!

But I haven't decided yet to spray in garage or in alley.

Such is life.

Some examples of the surface corrosion on the upper portion of the car.

I've been chipping away at this car but I'm getting tired. So much more to get through.

I also found both sides of the c-pillers have small cracks that need welding. Wondering if all 924 bodies do that.
