First thing: scuff the interior... try not to get sentimental or perfectionistic. Porsche didn't & that **** will suck up my whole day if I let it. It's all just going to get re-covered with stick adhesive and interior stuff anyway!
Second thing: Weld doors in 4 places, weld c-pillars.
Third thing: fix dents.
Fourth: Body filler.
Now, get your fat *** off the keyboard & put the coffee mug in the sink and go to the garage NOW>
"engine rebuild" or "clutch replacement" gets respect. A proper "paint job" like what I just did is twice or three times the amount of work. Since starting on the body, I gave myself full focus. I said "something has to give. and you are short for time... so give up excercise. And increase cigarettes & beer intake as much as you want, there is no limit. Just get the job done".
Haha! Thanks bro Thank you for your support (it means A LOT to me).
The truth is you could probably teach me a bunch of things about cars too!
------------
I am so very burnt out. They noticed how slow I was working today at the shop... just t.i.r.e.d. so very tired. And stoned/hungover from the paint fumes and emotional, mental & physical efforts.
I need to take the night off.
But I had to see the contrast of black with silver.
No. "Wilson" (the white car) is in the parking lot at work. I had an exhaust failure on the way to work and won't allow myself to work on it until Gramps can be driven & parked outside my house. Hopefully in a week Gramps will be hitting the road. Then I will fix Wilson's simple problem & drive it home. And then replace Wilson's struts/get an alignment.

I don't know what to do about having 2 Porsches. It's a unique situation that I didn't intend on having.
Today the plan is: Gramps as a daily driver (4 seasons) and summer autocross toy. Wilson as rally car and nasty winter car. Maybe big track car.

..and two winter Porsches at that!
After spending so much time (and monies) on my 951, there is no way I would willingly drive it in our winter climate. Cold - no problem. Snow and ice - fine. Salt and gravel - ugh.
Hey thanks for the awesome support. It's felt like 3 years of restoring fit into 3 months.
The paint job only looks good from 10 yards away but not up close. The important thing is it's sealed against salt, weather & rocks. To preserve the metal for another 5-10 years. I got impatient at the end and that's ok... because now I don't have to stress about bumps and bruises; I get to drive my car the way I want to drive it.
Managed to get the pieces together. Had to use my only 944 seat (that was simply a matter of drilling out 4 holes in the rails. Also had problems with the wimpy floor nuts spinning and also not being true, but with a hammer, a drill & a mig welder, the repair was quite easy. The 944 Recaro seat is an upgrade for sure compared to the stock seats. I will be installing matching black 944 seats - in about a month when my bud comes back from the states.
The car took me to work today. The let me drive it for 3 hours out on the hiway & on some back roads.
It loves to corner. Maybe better than my 944. It sits a bit lower & the steering is superb. The steering wheel is a bit slippery. Ok a lot slippery... which I don't like. And the other complaint I have is the brakes aren't very good. The shifter is sloppy and the heater sucks.
But... the mildew smell is completely gone!
The exhaust smell in the cab is fine (less than the 944) and the nasty fuel smells didn't exist in the cab tonight.
After driving out in the country (avoiding gravel roads because I don't have a timing belt cover installed yet), I did some errands in town (lots of stop & go - in & out of the car)... these types of errands are a real pain in the butt with my 944 and racing seats, but the stock Porsche seats on sliders were just a dream! I'm very happy. Woohoo!
So right now the car needs to pass the inspection. It appears to be reliable (critical) and just easy to drive & live with. Exactly what I wanted the 924 to be; daily driver... touring car.... commuter & retro autocross vehicle.
