The Machine Shop also offers the shafts for manual racks as well.

So have you confirmed that The Machine Shop offers intermediate shafts for the 944 manual racks or only for the manual racks they convert to fit the 944?

I had TheMachineShop inspect the manual steering rack and the intermediate shaft with universal shafts. The steering rack was OK but Martin replaced both universal joints on the intermediate shaft.

Thats good to know and I’m happy that it seems he has got his act together. A few years back I had a terrible experience with him and I know I wasn’t alone, but recently I see folk post good experiences. Always great to see vendors stepping up their game to keep these cars on the road

the work may be good quality but it doesn't help if the worker is a *****.
you're definitely not the only one to have that experience.

TheMachineShop experience was pleasurable and Martin knows his craft well. Sent me a follow-up package with a TheMachineShop cap. That is customer satisfaction supreme.

He must have taken a customer service course as that is night and day from my past encounters with him. Again, it’s good to hear positive 👍

I can confirm they offer intermediate shaft for factory manual racks. I bought one in the summer of last year and it is installed on my 924S, which I converted to manual steering via a factory manual rack.

That rack came with an intermediate shaft, but the u-joints had play in them. I had originally called The Machine Shop to inquire about getting it rebuilt when they told me they could build me a new one, which I went with. I also coincidentally had to recondition some of the rack's innards, as shown in the second link. I was kinda nervous about that originally, but it hasn't failed me yet in the 20 miles or so I've put on it....Seriously, I've been waiting on plates and the title from the DMV
