And in yesterday's news...
- Fan found a way to grind down the back of the lower radiator hose. I didn't know it could do that.
- Fan also binding on its own shroud. New fan on the way.
- Two little bonus oil drips, yes after all of that work. The oil light takes a little bit to go out when i start it now.
I am going to correct the coolant hose and fan situation then let my Porsche guys finish the "keep the oil on the inside" project.

Dear Joey: Man! all the time and effort that you have put into your Swiss (?) German watch..hopefully it will give you many years of enjoyment as a result of your hard labors. I need to PM you about the rear suspension bushings et al..check out the links on the fan blade clipping from V2rocket and others about the radiator hose issue. Great job, and great work! Keep it up!
My hat's off to you!

Thanks so much man!
I just had AutoAtlanta add the later model hose to the order as well (944.106.237.0).
The Ebay fan purchase was for a 6 blade.
So I may have a good situation here.
Again, thanks for pointing me to the good info.

UPDATE
- Steering rack re-lubed, re-booted, re-tie-rod ended, and re-installed.
- Replacement fan received, reshaped, and installed.
- Lower radiator hose strapped back with two massive zip ties
- Headlight wired tucked neatly in to the nose of the car.
Next: Finish the headlight hookup, radiator flush, coolant, tabs, and off to the shop to stop the last two oil leaks.

should have replaced the rod bearings when you did the pan gasket.

Better known as the rear main seal..Have to pull the clutch to get to it..lives forward of the flywheel. Not too bad to change once all is out of the way..Prolly don't even have to pull the pan or break the seal on the pan gasket. Be gentle with it..should go in easily..check the threads on this..Hope that it goes well, Joey..could get expensive at the shop..really quick...get a flat rate quote before you decide.

Thanks for the info Tiger. Sounds like the job isn't too bad if they can get in from the back. I also need what's around the crankshaft dealt with too. After a year of fixing everything I'm treating myself to some professional help ;-) I also want to know if I messed anything up too.

UPDATE
Got the car back on a Friday, drove it like crazy Saturday.
It ran so sweet, it purred like a kitten. and I was grinning ear to ear.
By the afternoon the dreaded gas fumes were unbearable.
Back on my jack stands it went.
- I pulled the CV Joints, the transaxle, and the fuel tank,.
- I'm replacing ALL of the venting hoses, the carbon filter, and the small expansion tank. The new parts are on the way.
- There was a kink in the venting hose that turns 180 degrees. I bought a little plastic pulley for $3 and scavenged the wheel from it. I will curve the hose around it to keep it from kinking.
- The expansion tank in the rear column passed the pressure test so it gets to stay.
- After cleaning the transaxle I replaced the shifting linkage with the goods from Only944. http://only944.com/partscatalog/only/shortshifter/ & http://only944.com/partscatalog/only/shiftlinkagearm/
- I spoiled myself and I am installing a new Momo wheel. It was time.

I am working to get the car ready for her 1st car show on October 2nd. With a little luck from the "Parts Gods" all the parts will arrive soon.

UPDATE
- 25watt fuse finally added to headlight harness upgrade. This should protect my headlights from getting too much juice.
- Carbon canister replaced. Early model replacement canister (PN 993-201-221-01) has two inputs "motor" and "Tank". Plug in to the "Motor" port and cap (PN 930.110.256.02) the "Tank" port.
- Remounted fuel tank with new vapor hose and expansion tank
- Replaced and re-installed all vapor hoses and filler neck hoses- Replaced fuel cap section gaskets
- Re-installed rear interior
- Hood release cable re-routed
I have the transaxle and CV joints to re-install now and then time for a test drive.

UPDATE
THE CAR IS NOW ROAD WORTHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Does anyone have anymore exclamation points they can spot me? I ran out)
- Transaxle re-installed
- CV Joints re-installed
- Muffler section re-installed
- Protective plate installed
- Test drive went great
Just a note, the only fuel smell I get is coming from the fuel cap. I think it is vented and it is making sense to me to have a non-vented cap so the vapor continues on to the carbon canister. Does that sound reasonable to anyone else?

Purple Power Degreaser
Amazon.com: Purple Power Industrial Strength Degreaser - 32 fl oz.: Industrial & Scientific Amazon.com: Purple Power Industrial Strength Degreaser - 32 fl oz.: Industrial & Scientific

And this wonderful gas powered pressure washer:
3100-PSI 2.5-GPM Honda Gas Pressure Washer with Idle Down
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-310...0940/203615829

I find that most things like two passes with the degreaser and washer.
So whenever a big part comes off the car it goes on to the driveway and I get completely soaked.

Ordered this gas cap: 944-201-061-01
It has a reputation for sealing correctly.
That should keep those fumes on track to the carbon filter.

BTW - My local Porsche parts counter matched the Pelican Parts price. I love those guys.
