Awesome countryside and thanks for the pics. I'd love to get back there for another explore and a drive!

Is that heat shield sitting on the pile of bits removed from Wilson?

Looking back, looks like it was installed 4-10-2014. It hasn't peeled, or faded. You can even wax over it. A few pics:

Lost huge points for being stupid in my mad attempt to shed pounds & cutting the metal near the cap. I have realized for months what a DUMMY move this was. One of the biggest errors to date on this car, probably THE biggest.

But, at least I have a solution. Albeit unconventional.

This will keep the water & exhaust out & it's light weight.

Also this process has gained me some weight loss because I found a gas filler cap that's much lighter than the stock locking one:

Thanks to Cyril for hooking me up with Pegasus racing for the metal bits! close up shown:

Took the afternoon off because it's slow at work. Fill up with premium. Kick the tires. Check the oil and go.

Bright but sun's high so not blinding. Wilson is "sans visors" so a ball cap is needed sometime. That's okay. The hat is a Martini Racing ball cap from the Porsche dealer... very comfy.

The wind is turbulent. At almost any speed you can feel the force acting against the car... Mother nature awakens from her slumber. Wilson respects her and balances his will against hers.

Foot of the hills. I LOVE this place. And so quite today... feels almost like I'm alone. Wilson has great cardio.

Soon the foothills give way to rock & river. Trees & snow.

An hour's drive away there was no call for rain, but in the mountains the weather is unpredictable. It lightly rains for an hour. Put on the headlights so any traffic can see me.

Look at this view. Breath taking. The gravel road you see is the logging road I went up about a month ago. It was muddier then. Fun, but I'm cheap & don't like spending a lot of money washing Wilson.

But, today I'm feeling adventurous & am toying with the idea of doing rally driving. So I go up this road.

Conditions were very dry. The road felt very soft also. Spent almost all the driving in 3rd gear. Average speed maybe 75-80 kph. Which felt fast. Funny because that's the posted speed limit. I think in a AWD I'd be more comfortable pushing it, but not with Wilson & his open diff & these tires. Not until I gain more skill. What can I say? I'm a bit of a wuss & I don't want to slip off the ledge and the narrow gravel road with bad visibility isn't the best place to lose control or smash on coming traffic head on.

The drive home is extremely relaxing. Wilson & I needed this drive... really sets the stage for a great weekend. Thanks for joining us.
