Thank you all, I hope you used them and didn't swear too much when installing on the aluminum plugs. I know I did.

I still have 5 early and 2 late pairs of seals if anybody wants them.

How well have these worked out for all who purchased? Any late style left?

I haven't installed mine yet, but plan to this fall/winter when I pull the engine for a complete reseal, rod bearings, etc.

Looking forward to getting them in the car.

Tempted.

I have easy access at the moment to do both balance seals - neither are leaking but it appears someone added silicone or something similar to the ends.

Is it worth doing these as preventative maintenance, and if so, how long until the OEM ones tend to fail vs expected life of these custom ones?

Installed on my project engine

I found that they were much easier to install onto the buttons after you lightly stretch them out a little and soak them in hot/warm soapy water.

Sorry,totally missed this question.

Stock are imo bad design and eventually leak, maybe not it few years, but all non rebuilt 944 engines I've worked on had small or big leak there.

These custom seals are made out of best available viton seal material, tiny bit oversized and use all available sealing surfaces. Material itself should last at least as long as factory O rings but can not flatten out like stock since it is already flat.

I still have 3 early pairs.
